Eagle glove questions for the gurus...

Recommended Posts

Guys,

Just picked up a pair of CP94's (Ottawa Dmitrikov), you may have seen them in the "Show" thread. Anywho, gloves are great, love the fit. Couple of things are bugging me...they weigh more than what I'm used to wearing. I can definately feel the added weight. From what I can tell, this is due to the plastic inserts that these gloves have (and my previous 2 pair of CP94's did not). They seem to be almost everywhere, in the cuff, fingers, backrolls etc. If my LHS ships these back to Eagle, do you think they can take them out without too much difficulty? I would also like them to turn these into split fingers. My LHS guy is off all week, hence the post. Under normal circumstances, I would just order another pair, but from what I gather, CP94's are no longer offered. The other thing that scares me about ordering a new pair even if they could do CP94's is that the last pair I got (custom 94's from Eagle) were a bit tight all the way around. These are a little roomier and fit like a "glove". I'd also like them to put mesh gussets on as well...

Any thoughts on whether this is a) doable-no problem, B) doable but a pain in the ass, or c) Eagle will say "you're SOL"...

Thanks

I'm far from a guru, but with the amount of mods you're looking to do you might as well be looking for another pair of gloves. That's the problem with pro-stock gear, sometimes the specs aren't exactly popular/normally seen at retail. That's what makes them pro-stock.

Gussets are do-able, but I would guess that the fingers and inserts would pose more of a problem.

no way they would take out the plastic inserts and make split fingers......the labor involved would be cost of 2 new pairs of gloves

my vote is "SOL, buy a new pair"

I read somewhere you are still able to get CP94 in customs

I contacted Eagle and a few other gear repair shops about getting the fingers on an old pair of X70's split, just to see if it could be done. All said no.

Most of them don't like working with the shell of the glove, gussets and palms is about all they're readily willing to do. They'd most likely have to disassemble the whole glove and put it back together, which would mean they'd cost quite a bit. Twice the labor of a new glove spent on someone's old set? They'd likely turn you away or quote a price with a few zeroes at the end.

Tape the fingers bent for a couple days, that will help. If you really want to keep them and are still having trouble with the single-piece fingers, get deeper/stretch/mesh gussets installed.
