Broke blade on s17. Turn into tapered shaft?

Recommended Posts

I'm sure you could but you'll probably have to cut pretty high above the elliptical taper and put in a butt end after that to make up the length.

you can cut in the elliptical and it will still fit a tapered blade (internal is box shape). i've done it on an S19. best two piece set up i ever used (dolo blade)

I cut right where the blades connects to the elliptical and it was still oval. How far down did you cut? I spun it around and threw a blade in it. It feels not bad playing around in my garage. Do you have a picture of it done?

Flipping the stick makes the kickpoint really high and the grip at the top will be quite skinny. You can certainly do it, but a good cut towards the normal blade end of the shaft with a tapered blade will definitely offer better performance.

cut a little higher. it'll need a 3-4" plug when its all said and done.

It just astonishes me that you can't get tapered blades in big markets in Canada. Our rink shop in Greensboro NC, which is all of about 100 square feet, stocks some, and the shop in potsdam NY, Population 8K or so plus the 7K that go to college here, stocks a pretty good selection of them.

you got a pick, you'd have to cut it pretty high

No kidding, I'm in Quebec City and I have 2 tapered shafts. Big mistake as it is really hard to find tapered blades. The biggest store in the area doesn't stock them anymore, another has some older CCM RBK blades on closeout and no one is buying them. I found a store 20-minutes away that has some but they are all 80$, while a one95 standard blade is 20$ cheaper.

Shafts are always full retail price, people are buying OPS. For example, a 7k shaft is the same price as the OPS that they are clearing out!

What stores down in vancouver there have a p88 tapered? I'm up in prince george, and selection here sucks.

call:

larry's sports north vancouver

the hockey shop surrey

cyclone taylor sports vancouver, coquitlam

the sports exchange vancouver

one of those four have got to have what you're looking for.

okay thanks. My local source for sports refuses to bring in blades yet they try to sell shafts. Only place that has blades is old wood ones from canadian tire or sport chek.

hey I'm from PG (in van now) I remember how frustrating it was to get the peripheral stuff up there, good shafts not 110 flex, prostocks and good roller wheels, plus paying full price for three year old equipment. I guess that old place on george st. is out of business now eh? I forget the name, but damn that was the place to go, an old czech guy ran it and was one of the nicest store owners I've ever met, showed me how to perform a can opener on a guy! Plus he put the nicest sharpens on my skates could glide for miles on the old prolites.

anyway, I recommend cyclone taylor, or the sports exchange both have been super helpful to me and have decent selection

Yeah that place closed down. Only place left is players bench/source for sports. I was in there the other day and they still wanted full price for a old z-bubble. Than the kids running it tried tell me oh they stopped making blades. I than asked them why do they keep trying to sell shafts at full price if thats so. Prince George is a joke when it comes to buying anything.
