cracked blade problems

Recommended Posts

this year i have been having alot of trouble with sticks

so far i have gone through

2x s17s

1xse16

1x warrior dolomite

1xeaston syenergy s2

1x ccm U+ cl

all of these sticks have cracked at the blade and delaminated until they are break in half

I always tape my sticks and use stick wax, all my sticks are the same length and come up to m top lip on skates

although i had a warranty on my s17 (broken) and ccm (using now) it is starting to get very frustrating and expensive

any thoughts on why this is happening

Where do they crack? is it right at the heel or toe? It could be an issue of having an incorrect lie. I used to use a easton lidstrom but found i'd always crack it on the heel, i now prefer a ccm lecavalier, it's a similar curve (not quite as deep) but has a larger? (not sure if that's the correct term) than the old lidstroms. I now find that tape and blades wear evenly on the bottom and i usually end up cracking the shaft rather than the blades.

How often do you play and at what level? Where are they breaking? WHat kind of shots do you take most often? Etc... Any speculation without more information is pretty much pointless.

I play about three times a week in u16 league, its mainly wristers which i take and the blades are cracking at the heel, im currently using a tavares curve on my ccm and all the eastons have been sakics

Are you a stick lifter or a stick smasher? There is a guy on our team that buys new sticks every 4 games and the heels of the blade crack within a couple of week b/c he's bashing the hell out of other ppls sticks.

so you're getting about 20-25 times on the ice out of each stick, on average. Something doesn't add up if they are breaking at the heel and you are taking mostly wrist shots. Taking faceoffs or banging your stick to call for the puck would explain some of it though.

Or too long? To the upper lip on skates seems long to me. While I know its personal preference, maybe try cutting it to just under your nose off skates.
