Bauer protective equipment Vapor vs Supreme

Recommended Posts

I'm in the process of getting new protective gear (shoulders, pants, shins and elbow pads) since all my gear has become mush. I was wondering what the main differences are between the Vapor line vs the Supreme line.

For example, if I was going to compare shin guards that are middle of the line, is there a difference in fit and protection?

Any insight is appreciated :)

Although they share a lot of the same features and materials, you have to look at the two lines separately.

In general, I think the Vapor line is stronger in mobility, while the Supreme line is stronger in protectiveness. Although that could be argued easily.

Not completely sure but I have mostly one90 protective above the belt and xxxx below the belt, and I think it'd just good marketing.

If you get kids to switch from supreme to vapor, they feel like they're making a substantial enough switch to warrant the price, but they're really still buying from the same company.

The reason I ask if there is a difference in they way equipment fits between the two lines is that I know that the skates fit completely different. I wonder if this also applies to their protective equipment

I know as far as their gloves go, the supreme over a more snug anatomical fit where as the vapors provide a tapered fit.

When comparing the two lines of shin pads, the Vapor line has a very narrow and tapered fit compared to the Supreme series.

I remember reading something about Supreme shin pads being known crack, but I'm not 100% sure.

My supreme 70 shins have a small crack which was the result of a 2-handed slash, they're still structurally sound and i still use them.

From what i've read in here, the vapor shins are certainly supposed to be narrower than the supreme. FWIW I'm 6' 0" & 210lbs, I wear 16" shins, large elbows and large shoulders all NBH Supreme 70, the fit is great for me. My only complaint is that the shoulders are quite bulky.

I use Supreme 90 shins and shoulders. Haven't had any problems with the shins cracking to date and find them very comfortable and wider than the Vapor shin pads. The 90's are however still much slimmer than say the Reebok or Mission shin pads and in my opinion a deeper fitting shin than those two.

I find the Supreme 90's shoulder pads an extemely nice and comfortable fit as well. The Vapors are good too but feel slightly liighter even though the protection to me is about the same. Compared to a high end Reebok, Mission or Easton shoulder pad I don't find they are bulky at all but are a nice close to the body fit and the shoulder caps are extremely protective and have a good anotomical form shape.
