maxamillion 3 Report post Posted December 13, 2009 I live in East Falls (near Manayunk) and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good pond to go skate at should the weather reach that point.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted December 13, 2009 This far south it's hard to have enough cold weather. Maybe once every four or five years.
flyers10 57 Report post Posted December 13, 2009 I grew up in Bucks County and had a pond across the road. Only remember 5 or 6 years it froze enough to skate around on it. Try the Delaware River canals. Not very wide obviously but shallower so better chance of freezing solid enough.
Moose 1 Report post Posted December 14, 2009 Yeah- doesn't happen too often. Grew up in NE Philly. I'd be suprised if the delaware river is able to freeze with all the crap in it. Only place I've ever seen freeze were little spots in Bucks County (Bensalem, Neshaminy areas) very, very rarely. I rememeber it happening once during my high schools years in 2000 or 2001 when we had the big snowstorm around the MLK holiday.
rtwng20 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2009 That is about 2 hours south of me by car and we don't even get lakes freezing over like I remember as a kid. Last year a friend of mine built a beauty of a rink for our kids to play on. They got about one week put of it, then we started to bust him about filling it with trout.
