Trimming an RBE I

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever trimmed an Itech/Bauer RBE I ? I am getting one for x-mas and am considering trimming the shield down to the level of the nose cut-out. Has anyone done this? and how does it perform if you have?

thanx

I did, used a dremel cutting disk, and just used a belt sander to make it all smooth out the jagged cut, then took a razor blade to scrape the edges, to make them rounded, then I finished it off with a wipe of acetone along where I sanded, and cut.

You seem to know how to do it and have acknowledged that it's a cheap visor. Go for it and if you eff it up you can always pick up another.

Use masking tape to mark off your line and you'll have better luck getting a smooth clean cut. It will also let you see what a couple different options will look like before you cut.
