Mission Skates

Recommended Posts

Ok so I let my brother in law use my Mission skates they were older model but I loved them. And he cracked the steel. So I was wondering if the Misson Fuel 120 AG is a good buy at $200. I figured you guys would be a good crowd to ask. Also I really cant find many helpful reviews about the NME.

What model were the skates? If they were pure fly or S series, the AG will be somewhat similar. They are a great deal for $200, that's less than half the original price.

They were the fly series. And i would replace the steel but they are about 10 yrs old and I did need new ones. Just needed an excuse to pull the trigger.

If they were the black ones, you probably want the AGs, if they were black and white (AMP Fly, etc..) you probably want the XPs.

thanks looks like im going with the xp. Only thing that sucks is that my old pair were size nine and my shoe size is 10.5. I know they say to buy same size as shoe, but the other pair were smaller size. Plus there isnt anywhere to try them on Peranis only had select few pair.

Mission skates are NOT shoe size. A"proper" 10.5 shoe, or an 11 in most sneakers, is what I wear and I am a 10EE in Mission skates.

I agree. I wear a 9 1/2 or 10 depending on the shoe company, so I bought 9 1/2 Missions and they are at least 1/2 size too big. Go to a shoe store and have them measure your exact foot size and that should work for your Mission skate size. Go smaller if your imbatween two sizes.

After I bought the skates I did this and realized I'm actualy a 9, but would always be told to go with a 9 1/2 shoe.

The Mission skates of the past several years definitely don't fit true to shoe size in my experience. I wear a 10W dress shoe and 10.5 in most running shoes and the correct length for me in any of the Mission skates I've worn or have tried (L7, Boss, S500) seems to be 8.5. A better comparison would be vs. skate length in other brands - 1 size up from most of the newer Bauer and CCM skates and a half size up from Easton seems like a decent general guideline from what I've read and have tried on. Of course, getting them at a LHS that has knowledgable staff is the best option to ensure you get the right fit. Even if you get the length right there's the width to consider and the overall fit of the skate.

The new Mission Roller line uses a Bauer last from what I've read here so they should fit like Bauers, but the general sizing info I provided above should apply to the 120AG skates. I'm not entirely sure about the NME's - you may want to read through those threads to see if the sizing on those is the same.

i'm a 9.5-10 shoe size and i wear a 7.5-8 depending on model in missions

In my experience that isn't common or accurate. More often than not, it is a shoe sizing/fitting discrepancy that creates that sort of imbalance.

Here are the problems I've encountered most often:

Sneaker size is not standard, 1/2 size off

Sneaker fit is wrong for your foot, 1/2 size off

Thick sock in sneaker, thin or no sock in skate, 1/2 size off

ended up with the 120 AG'S. Bought from peranis after getting it priced matched off of HM website. I have wore the skate 4x now and it feels great. I really like the pitch holder. I would have bought it from a smaller store but nobody had any. SUPPORT LOCAL ECONOMIES! Thanks for help guys
