Impressive equipment repairs...

Recommended Posts

I know there is a thread about equipment repair, but I thought I would see if anyone else has had any repairs done to stuff that they thought would never be able to be fixed.

For your viewing: my custom Vapor XXXXs. When skating in them for the second time, I ripped through the top eyelet. I am quite anal about my gear, and when baking them I made sure to not yank upward on the laces.

Bauer at first said they could not repair them, and sent me a new pair of XXXXs that were much stiffer and had different placing of the eyelets.

I wrote a letter to my LHS pleading with them to help correct this, as this was not the first time I had purchased customs and ended up with something different than what I had wanted. Check my previous posts for my miserable experience with EWH, which was never resolved...

I was rather bummed that Bauer would blow me off, so i spoke with my LHS and basically demanded that Bauer correct this situation one way or another. I said if Bauer really wanted to restore my faith in their products, I would happily take a pair ofX60s in the same custom size, in the black limited edition boot if XXXXs were no longer available

Bauer said that since I was happy with the XXXX boots aside from the ripped eyelet, they would see what they could do. Check out the repair. Big ups to Bauer for taking care of this situation, I am very impressed with the repair. Since having them repaired, I have about 15 hours on them, and they are perfect. They basically took a chunk of the boot out (top eyelets) and replaced it.

Anyone else have any repairs that surprised them?

Bought a pair of Wings Tackla lowers that were not all the seller claimed them to be. They had many seams coming apart plus the inner black nylon that covered the thigh pads was thrashed. I debated what to do and contacted Toronto Hockey Repair. They were very good about working with me to do what I wanted done; new inner nylon over the pads, all seams repaired, etc. I was very happy with their work and price on the repairs. My only beef was how they raped me on the return shipping cost. They knocked off a whole $5 after I questioned them, lol. All in all I'd still send pants to them again due to the quality of the work and speed in which they turned them around.

THR does good work - Brunina runs a tight ship downstairs. :)

Shipping pants through Canada Post is just brutal. There's no way to make it cheap. Believe me, I've tried.

I had sent my new Rbk 7k elbow pads to B.K sports repair in the Ottawa area, to have the forearm guard lowered because it was interfering when i moved my arm. I now have full movement and can touch my ear with my hand easily. I just got them back today because i was gone for a week but he does fast repairs and not expensive at all, it takes usually 3 days. I really like how it turned and very happy with the job done.
