Pro Stock Flexes?

Recommended Posts

I'm really new to hockey, but was curious about Pro Stock flexes? I was under the impression that if you got a Pro Stock stick it would basically come in one general flex; usually reflective of what the player may actually use? Recently, while surfing the web, I saw a bunch of Pro Stock sticks that had a range of flexes; from the 70's to the 90's; for the same player (graphics, curve, etc...). Any thoughts/comments on this would be greatly appreciated!

B,

Thank you very much for answering my question! Just shows how new I am to hockey; never even thought that players did that much experimentation with flexes in that wide of a range. Take care in the LBC!

Aloha,

There are people here who know a HELL of a lot more than me about this stuff, they might chime in with some good info and whatnot.

Also, as far as Pro Stock sticks, sometimes not all is as it seems. You can have a stick that was done up with different graphics (Bauer Vapor XXXX done up to look like a Bauer ONE95) and you can even have stuff as crazy as Mission sticks done up to look like Bauer sticks.

The answer you posted was very helpful and much appreciated. Sometimes I don't post questions on the boards, due to my distaste when people respond with a "use the search function" as their answer. Thanks again for the help!

I have some Steve Sullivan TPS sticks in S(105) and R(95) flex and I've turned down sticks in SW(85) and W(75) flexes. He has gradually moved to lighter flexes and tweaked his pattern slightly over the years. I've owned curve revisions A through E. I haven't tried any of his sticks since he came back, I believe he's using Easton again.

I also recall Kovalev using a lighter (for him) flex at one point with the Penguins due to an injury, I want to say it was his wrist. Pierre Turgeon went lighter due to some shoulder issues if I recall as well. I'm sure there are other stories that others can add.

Chadd,

Thanks for the insight on the Sullivan TPS sticks and the info about Turgeon and Kovalev! I wonder what would be considered "lighter" for Kovalev (maybe a 100 :))?

I think he went down to 110, maybe 100. He was using 120 grip lights at the time.

I use to use Jason Williams sticks when he was first with the wings, he had a drury like curve in about an 80-85 flex, I just saw one he uses now and its a drury like with a toe hook and a 102 flex.
