What do you guys think of repaired sticks?

Recommended Posts

The eBay listing reckons the repaired section is 30% stronger than the original? What?

Are these even worth buying? I see me buying one, taking one shot, then having half a stick in my hand?!

It all depends on where it broke. No matter what the balance will be very different and anything below the mid point will significantly impact the performance. You're better off getting a closeout or mid level stick with a warranty.

Never used one. Never will. Put your money towards a new stick. Hopefully a more durable one than the last.

What about those pro stock OPS that break at the blade?

I have seen a couple there where the blade has been taken out and the tenon chiseled out

They look pretty good to me but i might be looking at the stickfix your talking about

That's a totally different story. That's just creating a shaft out of an old OPS. If you can do it correctly and get a blade to fit snugly, then it should perform well. I was referring only to the stick fix or SRS systems. I don't have any faith in them.

I've tried buying repaired sticks, and would do it again. I wonder how many of the people above telling you not to try it have actually tried it.

Here are some observations:

You've gotta get a really good deal on a repaired sticks. 30% below retail on a used and repaired stick is not a good deal. I've paid $40 for a XXXX broken mid shaft. I play 3 nights a week and that stick lasted me a year.

I've compared repaired sticks to the same model non-repaired stick, very hard if at all possible to tell the difference.

Where the stick has been broken is also a big deal. Mid-shaft is not a big deal. I would never buy a stick that had the blade repaired, and am careful about breaks down by the hosel. I do have one stick that was a repair by the hosel that I have had for a long time, and no, I'm not easy on sticks.

I've purchased about half a dozen repaired sticks and only one would I say was a dud.

So, if u can get a killer deal on a stick that was broken in or near the mid shaft area, I say go for it.

Good luck.
