Pants with good hip aad rear protetion?

Recommended Posts

I'm currently using Reebok 5ks for pants and find that sometimes when I fall I really feel it right behind my hips. Does anyone have good experience with pants that offer better rear protection?

Are you talking about the spot between the hip and tailbone padding? Right on the back side of your hip on the bone, right? I'm having the same problem, and I haven't really been able to find a pant that covers that spot. None of them wrap far enough around to cover that spot, because when you're falling and your leg pulls up, it just moves the padding out of the way.

Of the one's I've tried so far, I think a set of properly fitted Tackla 9000's would work well. Mine are a little big, and I think that's part of the problem. Or maybe look into a girdle, so the padding is nice and snug up against your body.

That's exactly the area! If I ever fall on that side I tend to get a nice bruise there the next day. I think the CCM V08 are now comparable to the U+ Pro pants?

I have some Jofa 7000 uppers and Tackla lowers. The uppers have some pretty great protection in them. I tend to fall the same way you guys mentioned, and so far with these pants I am been fine. (Except I fell on my hip playing pond hockey, i am still sore from that one).

SO I would say if you can get some 2-piece pro-stock or the ever popular Tackla 5000x those might do the trick.

i'm using an old ccm 692 tacks pant and they seem to offer really good protection all around. not the lightest but sometimes you can find old stock on closeout for super super cheap! I've also tried on the takla 951 and they are an awesome awesome pant!

I'd also say CCM V06. Most protective, lightweight and mobile pants I've worn. I previously had Bauer Supreme 70's, Synergy Girdle and Warrior Hustlers. The tailbone pad on the V06 is super wide so it protects the ass bone a bit more.

I recently went from the Vapor XVI which had next to no protection to the CCM V08. The V08's have very good protection in all the right places. The fit of the pants are a bit on the short side and also very snug. The fit is something I got used to and I appreciate the added protection :D

Glad I'm not the only one feeling this. I've been thinking of replacing my Vapor XXVs recently for the same reason, bruises on my tuckus. I cant find good stock of pants to try on right now, so I think I'll wait another month or so till some shops get some some of the new stock in, but think I'll check out the CCMs at that time as they sound like a good option.

Get a pair of CCM Pro Tacks... they are tanks when it comes to protection especially in the hip and tailbone area. Virtually no gaps in these pants.

A tail bone injury while wearing the CCM VO6 pants (not as much tailbone protection as you would assume looking at the pad)prompted me to get rid of those and get a pair of Pro Tacks. The pro tacks are surprisingly not restictive at all in my opinion given the amount of padding and certainly just as good as the VO6 when it comes to mobility.

The only issue is that they are not easy to find, they seem to frequent EBAY, that's where I bought mine brand new for $80

The other pants that I have heard are excellent when it comes to protection is the Graf G700 Easier to find than the pro tacks as most hockey shops carry them. Also RBK 7K pants seem to offer very good protection in the hip and tailbone area and again easily available.

Good luck
