New Reebok stuff is GARBAGE!

Recommended Posts

I did get one interesting piece of info from Tim, the Reebok rep at the Summer Jam. He mentioned that they've been sending Michel Lefebvre (their goalie equipment guru) overseas quite regularly to check on the manufacturing. This was a condition of him putting his name on the price-point gear; he had previously refused to do so. I'm not sure it would scale well to the player side of things, but it seems like a viable plan to have the senior designer and builder personally signing off on offshore operations, rather than just inspecting the odd piece of gear from time to time (if that even happens). Somehow I doubt these kinds of oversights would be let pass by the craftsmen of Malung.

Ironically enough, I had to return a pair because the shoulder cap wasn't sewn down properly.

Same here. Except I had mine sewn back on and kept them. They were only a couple months old when it happened too.

Good to know. Did you find a difference between the 6k and 4k? I can't really see much online and they didn't have any 4k shoulders.

The 11k/old 9k's were a pain to put on like you said. The new 9k's felt pretty good and I liked the back protector...when I tried it and the 6k shoulders there was no gap in coverage front or back and no overlap, plus it moved with the body well. Unlike my XXV's which just hang off the hips and move away from the body.

The 4K and 6K are fairly similar except the 6K uses a different type of foam padding. Both have the two piece sternum and spine protection. The spine protection on the 10K and 8K are three piece.

Has anyone ever had and/or used these shin guards? If so, what are your thoughts on them? Would you recommend them? Thanks.

08 6Ks Have them, loved them. Knee cap was a too big so I swapped to XXV. Do prefer my 6Ks, better ventalation and feel more protective. Anyone tried padding the knee area so it doesn't slop around so much?

As for the current RBK stuff.. not a fan. Brought some new 6k elbows, one of the straps was sewn on the wrong way which resulted in a twist. Cost too much to send back so Ive restitched it, just doesnt feel right, so gone back to my 08 6K elbows which I love.

I use that very pad, I like it a lot. I have a somewhat unique situation. I have a skin disorder similar to a form of eczema. Anyway i need to buy new gear pretty regularly. The bacteria build up form sweat is responsible for my skin issue. Anyway this pad has the 2 straps that suspend the pad away from my shin. It real helps but more importantly it is protective light enough and comfortable. The strap on the first pair I had (a couple years ago - blue) broke early,my lhs exchanged them and all was good.

Hit up a few more shops today and snagged a pair of jofa 8800 shoulders. They look a little rough but are super comfy and very protective. I may try and swap the caps for something smaller (no hit league), or make them removable like the Bauer sdp's.

No luck on shins though, so I'll probably go with the new 6ks.

Just curious, since you said you were replacing them. Do you find them rather big for the size. I`m just wondering since I have the 7500`s and I find the shoulders a little big. But it works for me as I like the bit of extra size. I just didn`t know whether or not all the other models were like this.

I also had the 4K version of the shin guards shown. I used them a couple times and then went back to my Jofa 5500s. They're light and the liner's really comfortable, but they were a little bulky for my taste.

A little bulky maybe but tell me did you ever feel a shot or a slash with them? I don't think so!

Here's a picture:

And here's a similar pair...they're just huge:

The caps are pretty massive. I'm thinking about just clipping them off and using them for pickup, but I may end up just using a pair of newer 4k shoulders full time and selling off the JOFAs.
