Need out of production runners...

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I am sure this has been mentioned, but it is not an easy question to search for. I have Kor skates with pitch 3 holders, size 288 runners. I need them replaced, but they are no where to be found. So overall, I plan to get a pair of Missions with pitch 3 holders. To get size 288 runners, what size Mission should I buy? 10.5 or 11?

Just wanted to make sure- Thanks.

FWIW, No-Icing is not an "online" shopping store like hockeymonkey that just sells steel. We've been exclusively reserving our steel for our radius and sharpening customers for quite some time now. This is very clear on the product page on our website when a customer tries to order steel. Yet they still try to order. It's not that we want to restrict, we'd love to sell a bajillion sets to people who just want runners but .... we were getting wiped out of steel from people who tried to buy on monkey, then when all the online giants were sold out, they found us as the only ones on the web who had them. We couldn't support that volume and we would sell out quick. Then when we tried to reorder steel from manufacturers, they had none and we had to wait months (and in some cases still waiting) to be able to get more in stock. What was then happening was when our radius customers ordered runners we didn't have any for them and that cost us a lot of business, and/or a lot of extra shipping charges to refill our stock quickly. Also pi$$ed off a lot of our current customers. So, the surcharge for not getting a radius was instituted. It's actually working well because people who initially didn't want a radius ( mostly because they didn't understand what one is), actually were forced to learn and then after enlightened, were more than happy to pay to have a radius done, and even happier after they skated on it.

Some runners are harder to get than others, Mission, well, they are no longer made and no way we are just going to sell outright the precious ones we have left in stock. We did the same with the Formula steel and the older Easton steel. RBK size 10 goal steel is another that's impossible to get and we haven't been able to get it in a while. Every size 10 skate in my store is missing steel that I robbed to sell to a radius customer. It's a "crisis", everyone is out. :-O One guy last week paid for a radius (he didn't want one) because he wanted the steel so bad.

In summary, we are not set up to supply the country with steel, we order steel and stock quantities based on the amount of radius customers we expect.

Why not just buy these and cannibalize them for the steel?

Largest skate there is size 9 and I don't believe that correlates w/ size 288 runner
