blades fitting in to Reebok 8k Shaft

Recommended Posts

sorry I posted something earlier and it timed out

I went to buy a Reebok 8K shaft today with a Sherwood tapered blade. I went to put the blade in and it did not fit all the way, I tried an Easton blade after and again it didn't fit in all the way. There was some foam or something blocking it, the only blade that worked was a Salming blade. I didn't end up purchasing the shaft and the store let me return it (which was nice because there was glue all over it).

I'll probably get an Easton ST shaft now, but I was curious if anyone had a similar experience.

mine fit right in perfectly, didn't even need tape, which is a shame coz IMO the 8ks so much nicer than the ST

Hmm...I think it may have been a huge wad of glue in there that wasn't melting. I just checked out a few other 8K's at a different shop. I'll have to go back there and try it again.

hmm, well I went back and got it with a sherwood blade, had to cut off a bit of the end to make it fit, really weird how there is some stopper in there.

I noticed the same thing in my 8k shaft. There is a stopper for inserting blades which makes the doloHD blades Im using fit with just a tiny opening. It is usually filled up with glue automatically when inserting the blade so its not bad really. Still, the blade does not fit as snuggly as in a warrior shaft. I also need to use soem tape to make the blade not wiggle loose after a few shots.

All that aside the 8k/doloHD combo has performed marvelous for me. I have since put my one95 sticks aside and play this combo exclusively and even ordered 2 more replacement blades in case the one I have goes soft or breaks. Im enjoying the grip and shape (rather boxy but perfect for my big hands) of the shaft as well as the low flex I bought (75 + 1 inch wood and Im a big guy with ~215lbs and 6.2).

I also have an 8k shaft, which I was lucky enough to find in perfect condition after having been discarded my a member of my school's hockey team. I bought a Dolo HD blade and it went in perfectly - no gaps, spaces, or looseness at all. A few months later, I switched to a Dolo '08 blade with the same result. Didn't think I was in the minority with that result.

I can also vouch for the outstanding performance of the 8k shaft and Dolo(HD) blade.

I think it plays true to flex. My 87 flex one95s feel most certainly stiffer by comparison even though comparing those two setups is hard since they are in my opinion totally different. But the Reebok shaft is very whippy no matter how you look at it.
