One95 Question(s)

Recommended Posts

So I have an interesting question (or so I think...):

I tried on One95s in 8.5EE, and coming from the same size in the 8090 they seem to fit pretty well. I'm fine on depth as i get closer to the ankle/heel area, and the width in both the toe and heel are definitely good, too. I've been a Bauer skate guy forever, so I'd like to stay with a brand that's worked. The only issue, though, is that my foot feels pretty loose in and around the toe cap. Not in a side-to-side sense - it's more of an up-and-down thing. Would thicker tongues help here? If so, what options do I have for tongue selection? Also, where would be the best place to send the skates for installation?

If a tongue is not the right solution, what would I be able to do to help resolve this issue if I do get the skates?

Lots of questions for one post, so thanks to all for the advice and assistance.

I'm guessing there's no way the store will allow you to have them baked before you buy? Because if you get them baked it should help this problem. sides of the one95's(unbaked) go straight up, creating some extra volume between your foot and tongue. During the baking and molding process, they will fold over your foot to eliminate this space.

My feet feel the same way in my skates. But I love them for that! My feet do not move but they do not squeeze my toes. As far as the sides coming down as they brake in, that is true. My skates took two bakes and a lot of skating before the sides finally folded over.

not sure how it'll work because he was referring to the toe cup which is a plain plastic & isn't affected by the modling?

Yes - It's the area right at the seam of the toe cap to the tongue. I think I'm going to go for it and get them baked (my buddy works at the shop, he'll help me out here).

I know there are thicker tongues out there than the stock One 95 tongue, so if I were to go for another option, what choices might I have? Does anyone know a good place to look/call/inquire?
