Heel lifting in One95

Recommended Posts

Last night I tried out a new pair of One95's. I am getting a small amount of heel lift, actually when I take off the boot I can see some sock fiber balls around the area of heel lift. The fit otherwise is fine, both length and forefoot.

How can I fix this?

Thanks

I am having the same issue. Starting to feel like this "little" problem is gonna end up being a $400 mistake. I have resorted to putting "patches" of tape over my heel to fill in the neg. space and trying to convince myself it's not that annoying. The first solution is sort of working. The second, not as much. ;)

Some people have had luck baking them again and then physically molding the boot to their heel with their hands to improve the lock.

Exactly - I did this years ago on the advise of TLB.

This really should have been done from the get go during the initial bake but can be done at any time: when the boot if hot simply form it with your fingers to mold around your heel - that's all.

When I press around the heel area unheated, I can pretty much feel a hard plastic feel and it not much cushion too it, so I might be done there??

But, I will still give it a try.

-So get it hot and then just use my fingers to push down that area as much as I can to mold it?

-How long do I need to hold it down with my fingers?

-Should I wear the skates after hand molding when its still warm?

Guess I am asking for a step to step guide to this.

Thanks

The skate reacts to heat very well so a little bit of heating and your skates will feel malleable. I spot heated my one90s with a heat gun to correct the same problem a few years back. Once it is warm enough it'll be soft and moldable (its best to have another person do the molding while you wear the skates imo). Hold for a few minutes until the skate cools and then you should be good to go.

Oh wait a minute, do you guys mean mold the skate from the outside and not the inside??

Both is ideal- you should be warming them in a skate convection oven at the LHS.

never hit me till now that the One95 exterior could be molded too, guess I am still thinking old school that the inside is what molds in all skates. We are talking about the On95 after all.

I will have to give molding exterior a try.

If you dont end up rebaking like the OP, you could try the EZeefit Ankle booties instead of tape, its helped to fix most of my "slopping" issue and lace bite from overtightening to keep the heel down (they pad out the sides of my heel, moreso than the rear).
