Where have all the SE16's gone!

I started looking round at ice hockey skates today as we've gotten an awesome rink near by and I'm not a huge fan of rentals (inline guy, so I don't have ice skates... yet). Looking around online it seems everywhere is sold out of SE16's in my size (8.0 R if it matters). Is there a new line to replace them that'll be out soon then? When are they expected?

Sorry if this is rather obvious but I haven't been terribly active round these parts lately so I'm not very up-to-date. Particularly in the world of ice.

Yeah this is the worst time of year to find popular sizes. The new product lines are rolling out May/June.

The SE16 line is being phased out in favor of the EQ5 which is now listed at icewarehouse.com says they will be in stock april 12th.

The reason they are hard to find is because they had the same problems with the s15s... fell apart quickly and had zero durability. I think there were a couple of stores that bought them this last season, to fill in sizes, but from what i've gathered almost no store bought anymore of them than original shipments cuz they were shit for durability. Honestly I think your better to wait for EQ4s instead of getting se16s.

I hear ya on the size...I shopped around a lot to find my 9k's. Just ordered em' tonight from HockeyMonkey. Not one local store had any a skate in my size (10.5 E)

Wow, never new the SE16's had any durability issues, I thought it was contained to the the original S15. No matter, this is why you guys are here, to help stop people buying equipment that will fall apart :D

While I'm at it, is there much of a difference in terms of fit between the current Stealth, Synergy, up coming EQ and old Synergy (I'm rocking converted 1200c's) skates?

Yeah i have never heard of SE16's falling apart either. Mine certainly are in good shape!

Depends on how much you skate, i guess.

The local HS guys had them fall apart well before their season was over, however I've seen some men's league guys in them and they seem decent. The s17's durability with the HS guys is amazing. So I guess if you aren't playing hard and often they'll hold up for a couple years, but if your skating competitive in any way they wont last long at all.

Id you cant find SE16's look around for some S17's. I bought a pair of the black ones back in January and I honestly can say they're the best skates I have ever worn! The duribility is good. I have had none of the leather on the side pealing or falling off, nothing. And another thing that was a problem with the S15's was the toecaps but there is not one problem now. Easton has coverd them up with rubber and they did a awsome job. The rubber holds up and looks way better that the platic toecaps. Seriously if you see a pair of S17s get them!
