chippa13 1844 Report post Posted March 23, 2010 The face-off in the defensive zone of the team receiving the penalty is in effect in the NHL. The AHL started it a year or two before the NHL did. Those wide blue lines were horrible. I played at the Tsongas a few times when they had them and it completely messed you up. zebra_steve 11 Report post Posted March 24, 2010 Not to jack this thread, but i had another question, if there were an official that maybe has an answer to my question.Recently while at an AHL game in Hamilton, a delayed penalty was called. The play was blown dead in the defensive zone (of the team that was going on the PP). Instead of having the faceoff at a dot outside the blue-line, the play went all the way down to the attacking zone? How long has this been in affect, and is it in all leagues now?Pro and NCAA all face-offs are conducted at one of the 5 dots. A penalty takes it to the defending teams defensive zone spot.Chadd,We had a few guys say that when we showed them the new standard of play video.... We told them you'll call it or you won't skate.... Like I said in the PM I sent ya.... I know of what you speak...... :(

Be it what we say\write, our calls\lack there of, or the abuse that we accept from players and coaches.............Failure to adequately supervise and develop officials is one of the top two problems with USAH. The other being their view of inline hockey. To have the district refs in chief come out and water down the new standard within weeks of their implementation absolutely neutered the changes.
