tongue tear on new bauer XXXX

i have a pair of XXXX that are about a month old, the tonge is torn on one skate and starting to tear on the other, they are tearing across the skate where the top lace comes across the tongue...does anyone have a contact number for bauer?

I'm pretty sure you either have to go back to your LHS or try to contact them through their website.

i called the place i bought them, gunzo's in chicago, they said they would give me my money back. with that said, it wouldn't be enough to buy new X50's or X60s's, so i don't know what to do.....should i just get a new pair of X40's ????

I'm guessing you got them on clearance? Perhaps (considering you know the size you need) you can find a clearance pair online for a similar price? Or I'd say just replace the tongues. How bad is it though?

Sounds to me like the best thing to do would be swap/upgrade the tongues.

yeah, got them on clearance, no one else has my size...

as for the tongues being replaced, i'd have to send them to bauer to get that done...who know's how long that would take.

That's just from flopping your tongues. I really wouldn't worry too much about it as it's not going to rip past where the silver part of the tongue is due to the stitches.

No LHS has replacement Bauer tongues? If you really want new ones call East West Hockey and see if they have some (they used to) and just get them sewn in at your lhs.

But I don't think that's anything to worry about.

You don't even have to flop to get that rip. I don't flop my one95's and they ripped just like that. Unfortunately it's just something that happens with those tongues. I wouldn't worry about it, just cosmetic.

My old Bauer 7000's had the exact tears. The tear never progressed beyond the region that is silver on your tongue.

Yup, my Vapor 40's did that pretty early on and I'm sure its a widespread defect. Shouldn't be a problem.

just upsets me spending that much money on skates, and yet it's a common problem, if they were bought at wal-mart..... i'd be ok with it,,,......my 25 year old super tacks dont have that much wear on them

I honestly wouldn't worry, I'm pretty sure the black bit on bauer tongues just rips on everyones. Anyone know if its something thats been remedied for the current models?
