using regular blades tapered shafts

Recommended Posts

I know some people do actually shave down their regular blades in order to make it fit into a tapered shaft.

Who has actually done this successfully? Good idea? Pros? Cons?

Thanks

have seen it done before, and 9 times out of ten have seen the blade break right at point of entry. Standard blades are not meant to be tapered blades and therefor not built like tapered blades. NOT recommended.

If you're shaving the tenon down to the point that you're not forcing the blade in, I don't see why there should be major breakage issues. The kickpoint will be screwed up due to the likely longer hosel of the standard blade.

It's too bad that tapered blades are either wood or composite.

I don't think i've sever een an ABS tapered blade.

I'm planning to pick up an x60 shaft for roller hockey, but i don't want to be ripping up a composite blade on cement. That's just silly.

You gotta put a strip of tape at the bottom of it every game....2 if you want to play it safe

an ABS tapered blade would be a very hot seller i reckon
