x:40's vs one75 pants

Recommended Posts

Hey, new guy here. Been playing roller for as long as I can remember, but I recently moved out to LA and I want to get into ice. Maybe I am cocky, or just overly confident, but I think that I'll pick ice up pretty quickly. The one thing that I am not familiar with are ice pants. I am looking at getting a pretty decent pant. The two that I am looking at are the vapor x:40's and the one75's.

Can anybody recommend one over the other? I am a smaller guy, 5'10 165 if that matters.

Thanks

Gotcha, I just don't know the main differences in the vapor vs. supreme line I guess. They are going to be the same price point, so I am just weighing the options.

I've never used the Supreme line, but I used to use the Vapor XX lite pants and from what I've heard the Vapor pants are designed to fit a little closer to the body (a little more snug) than the Supreme line. You might want to check on that again when the new Vapor line comes out though because they could have changed things.

With pants (and almost any gear) the differences that will be important you'll notice once you try them on. They're both going to offer relatively the same protection with mostly the same features, especially as you stray from the highest end product. With the pants the vapors tend to cater to a more ergonomic streamlined fit while the supremes are built a little less snug to the body. Again though, go try them on if you can because one will probably offer you better mobility than the other.

Biggest difference you'll find between the Vapor line and Supreme line is the forward bias lean with the Vapor, plus the use of lighter protection in general. The fit is more snug along the upper body as well. I'm a Supreme person because I like the extra room in the pants.

Just like furlanitalia said, try them on, they should be coming into stores within the next two months. If you find an X:60, fits will be the same, just less protection and features as you go down the line.

really not sure I agree with this: based on my experience with Vapor XXX lite pants these are tanks! Plastic inserts in the thighes, foan at the the heaps etc - you could almost catch a bullit in these pants :)

IMO the only think that's different between the lines is the fit - Vapors are slimmer fitting - that's all.

Tackla if you're serious about playing ice hockey

I disagree with this...what is that based on? Swag/Style points?

Tackla's are overpriced and underspec'd based on the fact that they're made in Canada and they have to charge higher prices to cover the higher costs of Canadian labour. Take a look at Warrior Franchise gloves and compare them with a Bully. Is the jump in price really worth the palms and liner...? not really...Compare Eagle PPFs vs PFXs..liners and palms again...Take a look at similar priced Bauer/Easton/Reebok/CCM pants that are asian made and you'll get a far better spec. Check the protection, the shell, more notably the deniers of fabric and liners used as well. If you're wondering about the quality of asian made product, take a look at the quality of Graf skates...point in case...not bashing Canada as I'm Canadian myself. I have no problem supporting the Canadian economy, but I don't reward mediocrity...paying high prices for subpar goods...

I ended up with the one75's and the only complaint I have with them is that there is a bald spot protecting my lower hip area. It seems like I fall every time on this spot and it leaves me walking funny for the next few days. Not sure if I'd recommend them because of this.

I can't comment on the X40's because I never tried them on. I used to have the One75's. Great pants but they had too much room. My shirt kept getting hung up on the spine protector. I am now using Easton S19 pants and I can't say more about how perfectly they fit me. And they have better protection - the hips are so well padded that I think I could survive getting hit by a car. My 2 cents.
