Natural stretch of skates

Recommended Posts

Hi,

With rigid skates like the X:60, should I expect the LENGTH to stretch slightly with normal use (I play twice a week beer league). I ask because one skate is very slightly too short with the big toe just touching the cap when the knees are bent.

Thanks

Almost all skates will expand slightly due to the heel and ankle padding compressing. If it isn't causing you pain right now I wouldn't worry. Once they're broken in I'm sure they'll fit fine if you're only slightly touching.

If part of the big toe(right corner of left foot big toe) is touching the cap and causing some minor pain while skating and resulting in little bruising at that spot would a new skate expand enough over time to make it go away? Or should I look into boot stretching? The right skate fits perfect. My left foot is the slightly bigger foot.

When I first got my X:60's both of my big toes were touching the toe caps. I thought for sure I had dropped the ball and ordered a size too small. I switched to a thinner pair of socks and after a few weeks they felt like the perfect fit. I would say they stretched about a quarter inch (don't quote me) and to this day they feel great. Give it time and they will stretch and conform to your foot and feel like a better fit.
