Recommended Posts

If anyone can help me answer a few RBK/Reebok gloves Questions I would really appreciated it.

Ok so here's the deal there are 2 gloves on hockeymonkey i am very interested in

1. the RBK 9k Nylon http://www.hockeymonkey.com/rbk-hockey-gloves-9k-nylon.html

my question is does this glove have the lockthumb??

On hockeymonkey they say nothing about the lock thumb feature but on another website it does say it has the lockthumb see this site http://www.hockeyundergroundusa.com/shop/p...=328&page=1

So does anyone know for a fact does this glove have the lockthumb???

2. I am also interested in this reebok glove from hockeymonkey http://www.hockeymonkey.com/reebok-hockey-...oll-pro-sr.html

My question with this gloves also is does it have the lockthumb??

does anyone know??

I am coming to you guys here because the people who answer the phones at hockeymonkey know nothing about hockey equipment.

Ok any help you guys can give me would be great.

thanX

If you are really interested in those 9K gloves, I would suggest either calling RBK or calling Hockey Monkey to find out for certain. For the price range of those gloves, you might want also look at Warrior Pro Bully's and Bauer 4 Roll. Both the Bauer and Warrior models mentioned have thumb lock and are more spacious (more of a traditional glove). IMO the 9K gloves look more form fitting, which may or may not be to your liking. Good luck on your search for your next pair of gloves!

What exactly is crap about the 4 Roll "pro" gloves? I just grabbed a pair and they feel decent around the house, looking to give them some game use next week.

I was just wondering if these things were going to fall apart after my second game in them or something.

haha god i hope not, i'm one of the few that like the majority of rbk products, when they came out it was compared to the retail epro and we all know how bad those are

So i did call RBK about these 2 gloves and to see if i could get a answer about the lock thumb feature.

Welp the first thing the guy asked me was to please explaian to him what i mean by a lock thumb!!!

How do you hire someone to answer phones for one of the largest hockey companies thats know little or nothing about hockey. So after explaning what a lock thumb is then he had to go ask somone. He can back several mins later and said " well it doesn't say anything in our brochures about it having a lock thumb so i guess it does not have this feature.

I really have no confidence in what he told me. So if anyone on these boards has a pair of the RBK 9K nylon gloves could you please let me know does it or does it not come with the Lock thumb feature??

thank you

Ok, at the risk of sounding like a HM or RBK phone answerer, can someone explain on the board what a lock thumb is? Six months ago got back in the game after 15 years out of it and still learning about some of the differences in the new gear.

Thanks.

Locked thumb is like the old school thumb that doesn't move in any direction, opposed to the newer type of thumb that allows movement inwards toward your hand, but doesn't move backwards.

Gotcha. Thanks.

And this is a desired feature for what reasons? Compared my new Easton SE16s to my old school Ferland 3000s and see the difference, but dont see that either one is either good or bad.

I think its just a personal preference type of deal. To me I prefer the lock thumb since thats what I grew up using and it just feels more "secure" to me. I tried playing with the flex thumb and while I'm pretty sure it helps me when I'm holding the stick, to me it just doesn't feel the same without the lock thumb.

I tried on some of the RBK pro returns, everything felt great except for the locked thumb. I guess it just felt to stiff for me.

Basically personal preference, you would have to try it on and you either like it or don't.
