Anyone's review on Bauer XXXX pants?

Recommended Posts

I'm in the market for new pants and I found a decent pair at the local sports store on a XXXX. I was wondering what users have thought about the pant? I'm coming from some old CCM Supra's which fit loose and have a lot of ventilation. However, they are a little too bulky for me and I think I want something more snug and with more added protection on my spine. HOWEVER, i noticed one thing about the XXXX. They do not have buttons for suspenders, this annoys me as I like to have my pants suspended and not drooping as the game progresses. I tried searching everywhere but to no avail. Can someone please chime in and let me know how these pants feel? How well they protect? And how the durability is like? Also, if you know how to get those suspender buttons on, please let me know as well! Thanks!

p.s. Also, what is a reasonable price now for these pants since the new X:60's are out now? I'm looking at a pair of Black XXXX small's.

I've had a pair for a while now. Protection wise they are quite good. Taken a couple slashes and a few falls and felt nothing. As for fit they are a pretty snug fit for me. I would recommend them if you can get them for a decent price.

I had these for about 2 season now. Only complaint I have about them is the front lacing, the whole right side of the eyelets to hold the lacing, the stitching ripped off after just a few weeks. They are a little too snug as well. I like free fitting pants, I'd recommend Reebok Pants. My next pair of pants probably won't be Bauer.

I've been in a pair about 6 months, and I can echo the tighter feeling of these pants. Very good protection though, especially the lower back. The only real problem I have with them is that I'm in a large but at 6'0" and 175lbs I have to get them SUPER tight to stay up and the length isn't really long enough for me wearing a 16" shin over the tounge of my skates.

Just purchased the Reebok 9K's (2010) yesterday - I was in a serious injury 3 weeks ago - a douchebag decide to slue foot me landed straight on my back - came home in a wheelchair - couldn't move or even walk for a week until the muscle relaxers really kicked in - I had no spine protection in my CCM pants - infact you could see where my suspender buttons were on my back because they drove into my hips - I tried on the X:60 - nice protection with the band around the hips adds a lot - also had it in the core XXXX girdle - I liked that feature a lot very protective where I needed it most, but my legs (pads shifted) were too exposed - tried the 9k (2009) girdle/shell set up - little heavier - but not really that much on - couldn't adjust the legs pads confortably - tried the Easton S19 - tanks - good set up little short in the legs - Finally tried on the 9k pants - had an adjustment for an extra inch of leg adjustment, decent spine protection and tailbone and had the suspender buttons. I did add an extra piece of foam to the spine protector and tailbone padding for good measure - there is space and hole to add if needed with the 9k's and they were cheaper then the Easton's, Vapor X:60 and Vapor XXXX core

I'm not sure how much this helps you, but the Vapor XXV pants I'm in now aren't that protective at all. There's a little bit of hip padding, a plastic insert on the front of the leg, and that's it. They're super light weight though. But I definitely feel most everything that comes toward these pants and have been lucky to only fall on my hip bones once (first time I wore them). Other annoying thing is that they are really baggy in the waist but short...I'm only 5'8 and am not thin at 170, but I have to cinch the things way down, and then they don't cover my knees. I'm keeping my eye out for some Tacklas for next year.

Yeah I'm looking at a used pair right now. $120CAN. A little steep since it's used after all. I'm looking at some 7K's right now as they seem to have decent protection and have the buttons already installed
