Good Skate Fitters in RI/MA Area

Recommended Posts

Neo5370, are you looking to get a pair of custom skates or simply to have someone experienced fit you into a pair that they have in stock? If you're looking for the latter, you might want to consider Zwickers in Bedford, MA and No Icing Sports in Hudson, NH...

Custom skates, go to TSR and go now. You don't want to wait too long then you'll have to contest with other pro's, jr guys, and college guys. It will take longer to get your skates in.

Zwickers is old school, I've only heard people rave about that place.

Looking for straight custom, not stock. And wow, that's high praise for TSR. I've been to Zwickers in the past for customs and the staff was absolutely great. Even arranged to have a Graf rep. meet w/ me, (brand I wanted at the time preference) but the he talked me into just having my then-current 703's stretched.

Anyhow, I was asking b/c I wanted to have more than one option.

P.S. I've contacted TSR and found out they charge a wee bit more for customs than Zwickers.

P.P.S. Another reason I posted this topic is b/c I also met w/ a bauer rep last year at a LHS in RI who scared me away from the custom route b/c he couldn't read the tape measure.

Honstly, I don't know if I was being too picky but he couldn't read measurements smaller than half an inch and it wasn't an eyesighe issue, i.e. he had trouble "conceptualizing" quarters/eighths/sixteenths. It's not that I expected the measurements to be uber exact, but I didn't feel right trusting him to tie his shoes let alone handle that kind of investment. And true to all MSH'ers experiences w/ reps, he was not aware of many things we at MSH consider std. knowledge.
