one95 pair, but each skate has different steel?

Recommended Posts

so my buddy found a local guy selling an unused pair of pro stock one95's

so we go check them out, they are size 9.5EE

I have a set of 9.5C, and I took mine to compare (curiosity of pro stock vs. retail)

so I pickup the skates, and I notice the holders on his are bigger (288 vs 280), no biggie, I figure it's because it's a wider boot (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

then I notice that one of the steel is an LS2 and the other an LS2.1

any idea why that would be? my guess is they somehow got mixed up, and someone has the other set

I told him he should change the steel so they match, why not...the guy who sold them the skates is a 'pro' and said to just get a matching radius...

any idea why the steel would be different?

my understanding is the ls2 has a 9 radius, and the ls2.1 has an 11 radius

should he get a matching radius and call it a day, or should he just change the steel?

I'd say just buy new steel. I guess if someone really wanted to they could even them out, but chances are the guy sharpeneing them wont even look and see they are different.

the radius of ls2/ls2.1 is the same, just the length is different, IIRC.

Maybe that "pro" wanted it that way.

Possible reason

lol I can't comprehend why someone would want that, seems dumb from all sides

The link I posted are my skates with different steel. Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it's dumb.

fair enough...the thing is there's logical reasoning for things usually...I can't explain why someone would want different steel on the same sized pair of skates.

you have a logical reason, you have a size difference between 1 skate to the other, so it makes sense, but buddy has both 9.5EE's

I don't think any pro would want different blades - I think you got the bottom of the barrel - most pro skate equipment sales are put on what ever is left over and sell it to some schmuck who will buy it! - I saw all kinds at the Pens sale this summer - One95 boots with mission pitch 3 holders and no steel(wtf?), others like U+Pro with Tuuk custom+ = junk - clean house - you got one of those - I would pick a blade ls1 or the ls2 buy another then match it up - skate - don't be that guy that rides on 2 different steel or holders - I've seen refs skate with 2 different holders on their feet - just want to call them a toolbag or squid for looking like a dork! Object is to have fun but I think the little things do add up to skating style and ability.
