maxamillion 3 Report post Posted August 21, 2010 Hey guys -I am going into my senior year of college starting monday. I am an industrial design student, and one avenue I am looking to go is sporting equipment, specifically hockey gear. I know we get a lot of people from the industry involved on this site, so I was wondering if anyone wanted to share their experiences in the industry.I want to do my capstone project on hockey equipment, specifically skates designed to proved more protection, and I am hoping to use that, along with a few other projects in a portfolio that will hopefully help me out. I want to put some stuff together to start sending out to create some contacts and hopefully build that into something. anyway, any input is greatly appreciated. Barts66 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2010 Even though I have nothing to do with the hockey industry, I think an affordable skate with more protection than the skates of today would make a killing. Getting hit right on top of the foot or in the ankle by a slap shot or any shot for that matter hurts like a ...... But anyways, thats a great idea for your project seeing that there are no skates available on the market today with sufficient protection.

If you wanna do skates, it wouldnt hurt to give Easton, Bauer and CCM/Reebok's corporate sector a call... See what they can do for you.http://www.coroflot.com/public/individual_set.asp?keywords=warrior+sports&c=1&set_id=490721&individual_id=205007Even though I have nothing to do with the hockey industry, I think an affordable skate with more protection than the skates of today would make a killing. But, still not a bad idea though
Chadd 916 Report post Posted August 21, 2010 Unless the protective skate also has performance benefits it would fail. People care far more about other aspects then they do about protection. I had great luck with Kor skates, never felt any of the pucks that hit me when I was wearing those skates.
