Step takes on Fusion

Yeah. I agree with you, thats why I said:

I should have made clear that I was talking about the same Graf skate with the same Cobra holder, with 2 kinds of steel.

To add your comment about Step, I'd also note it's made out of a higher grade then all retail steel, I believe Easton use 303 whilst Step use 304. I could not believe the difference in glide and how long the edges last for that I have experienced with Step on my local "choppy" ice. I feel going back to a retail steel would be a big step back after getting used to it.

Stuie:

My biggest question is whether or not step uses recycled steel. FYI - I have also seen noticeable differences in retail steel vs the steel that comes with a custom order from Bauer. I used to have to sharpen after every skate with retail steel (LS2). With customs my steel has been less prone to nics.

That's interesting about retail vs custom Bauer steel, I just assumed it would be the same. It would make sense that pro/custom orders received better quality steel; although maybe its just luck of the draw like you said earlier?

Step have been great with me customer service wise, I'll email them and report back.

They're really expensive - but tempting. Hopefully they'll come down in price.

I've been using the velocity blades for a year now - love them. I'm guessing it would be pretty easy to notice the 30% difference in weight - and I'm assuming that's against regular stainless??

Anyone know the weight difference compared to fusion? OR how they compare to Nitinol?

Ti-SS won't be ready until the Fall...they still have to tweak it.

It does not compare to Nitinol because it is still stainless steel what you are sharpening...

Maybe there's another Titanium product I saw then? I assumed this was the same.

Aside from the sharpening issues, Nitinol would be the lightest and hold the best edge among the three (Fusion, Ti-SS, and Nitinol), right?
