Questions about Cobra holders

Recommended Posts

I used Graf's when I was younger and I think they were the best fit I have ever worn. I ended up buying one95's a year ago and have been skating five days a week in them since. They are comfortable, but they are too long and I am noticing more and more that I should have bought a size smaller. My original pair of graf's had Tuuk customs on them I believe. This was mid 90's.

Aside from the forward pitch of the cobra's, will there be much of a difference between the Tuuk LS2.0 and the Cobra holder as far as strength and rigidity? I am 6'7 and 290. I have heard of some issues with holders on here due to size of skater.

Thanks.

I decided to go with graf skates a few years back. Their holders were pretty solid as long as you are in the higher end skates. The only problem I had with my pair was that I tore the boot off the carbon footbed in less than 3 months! It took me over a year to get a replacement pair.

There is a Graf fit for just about every foot type. Forward pitch puts you on your toes. Normally this means more agility.

Graf's also have stock a 11ft radius which is less agility then someone with a 9ft radius - LS2 I think are 10 ft radius and sometimes have a slightly longer steel then what a graf boot would have - so possible a 11ft radius would feel about the same as the longer steel in the LS2's -- I'm 6'3" - 245lbs and the Cobra's are very strong and durable holders - never had a problem with them. The forward lean of the holders do put me in a better start stance to push off and lean into turns better then neutral pitched skates out of the box - most skates can be pitched to accommadate your liking and style of skating at a cost. Don't think you should buy a holder - you should buy a boot that fits then adjust the holder pitch if needed. Personal preference

My Cobra 5000's are fine once I got them profiled to sit back on my heels and at 9' rather than 11'.

HIGHLY recommend going to a very good shop and having them measure your feet. I wasted about $600 on a couple pairs of skates before getting properly fitted.

Thanks guys! I am actually looking for that forward pitch, so I think this would be the way to go. We have a shop close by that says they specialize in Graf's so I hope they can figure out how to fit me. The longer radius works for me, I am currently using 9/15 combo radius.

I'm currently in the 270lbs range, and I have had no problems with my Cobra 3000's. If the pitch is not an issue for you, I doubt that there are many stiffer holders on the market right now.
