One95 Wood Blades

Recommended Posts

I did some searching through here and couldn't find any info.

Since I'm strapped for cash and need new blades because I can't get a one-piece, can anyone shed any light on how different the feel and the balance would be of a OP x:60 with a one95 wood blade in it? I love the Easton replacement blades but they seem like they fall apart really quickly(2 weeks) for me to spend $50+ on. Once the season starts I'll be skating 5 times a week also.

Isn't the X:60 a tapered shaft so the wood One95 blade wouldn't even fit in it since it's a standard shape. If you cut off all the shaft to the point where it's no longer tapered then your flex point will be all messed up. The balance would be messed up as well and it'd be pretty blade heavy. The feel might be good though since it's a wood blade.

I have it flipped around and an extension on the other side. It's really well balanced with composites and I can fit a standard blade in it.

didn't find anything special about One95 woodie either - for me it split at the bottom & turned into a wet nooddle fairly quickly (a month of use maybe).

the quality wasn't that great either: the hosel thickness & the curves vary substantially for the same pattern.

the hosel thickness has caused the shaft to expand quite a bit, so when I got the composite One95 blade it was floating in there, and required a few wraps of tape to keep it tight...

Thanks for the input guys, looks like I might just roll with a composite and put an old Sakic blade in my backup for the time being. I would get an S19 blade but I swear those things were made to last for days for me. It finally split in two at pick-up today. :/

From looking at them they remind me of what used to be the Bauer 3030 blades (or 3000 maybe?) from early 2000's. I haven't used the 95's yet but am about to buy a few with a one95 or ak27 shaft. I used that old Bauer blade with a Red-Lite shaft through high school and preferred that setup over pretty much any one piece stick until the vapor xxx. They blades only lasted about a month at a time, but that was practicing 4 nights a week and 2-3 games a weekend. At $20/piece I'll take that longevity.
