Eyelet and blade profile question

Recommended Posts

i recently bought a pair of used pro stock one95s and after two skates one of the laces is chewed up and about to break already. i use wax laces. what i noticed was the inside of the eyelet was a lil rough and jagged. what could this be from and how can i get it fixed so im not burning thru laces on that skate.

second question is for the steel gurus out there. im coming off a pair of vapor xxxx's and while skating on the one 95s noticed im toe picking way more and also feel like im a beginning skater again. could this be from the profile of the blade or is it just from a lighter boot and my legs moving way to fast since ive only skated twice on them?

thanks and appreciate all answers and commets

Post a pic of the eyelet, you should be able to fix it. I had a similar issue on a pair of skates and used a pair of needle nose pliers to bend it back in, then used a small file to get the burr down. I can't even remember what pair of skates it was because I never had an issue again.

The profile could very likely be the cause, specifically if your previous skates had a semi banana blade. I purposely had JR take down the toe on my new steel because I was soo used to it.

I've seen a bunch of pro-stock skates with longer holders and steel than their retail counterparts. You may want to compare the holders to your old skates, if they're longer, you may need to have the steel shaped a bit.
