Time to replace Helmet?

hey guys, didnt see anything specific to this question so here it goes...I've got one of the ORIGINAL RBK 7K helmets (the first series they came out with). There are no cracks in the helmet however the inner padding (the grey, soft foam) is starting to fall off. Two pieces are missing (the piece on the very back and one of the pieces from a "stabilizer") and also there are other pieces of foam peeling off. I'm also beyond the date on the little sticker on the back.

Is it time for me to buy a new helmet?

(I play on a non-contact men's league and open hockey, very little physical contact if any at all).

Good point. Not sure what to get. I want something a little more "low profile" but I do like the comfort of the RBK's.

I'm sure you can find a buddy who has an old 8k or 6k or find a cheap one somehwere. After all RBK is coming out with the 11k +7k helmets/

had rbk helmet and exact same dillema, so I went with bauer 4500, and love it ! Fit actualy better than rbk , low profile and perfect for your league, and mainly ? It last a long time ! I see guys plying with them that got them 10 yrs ago and no problems, show me an RBK after 10 yrs ?

If the sticker date is past definitely get another helmet. The validity date is there for a reason and head safey is nothing to mess with in this day of serious concussions.

Have you tried the Vector helmets? The V08 and V10 are a deeper fit and are lower profile than the RBK series.

I'll consider those. As long as they are more durable than my V08 Pants...those things are falling apart rapidly.

I'll be trying one on Friday night then. Seems I need to replace a few pieces of gear so this just adds to it.
