what exactly is the benefit of a two piece pant?

That really is a different question. A girdle and shell is two-piece but it's not really a two-piece pant. Nearly all NHLers are using a 2-piece pant, the benefits include being able to change the lower while keeping your old upper piece. The lower takes more damage and is visible(needs to change if you get traded)... just think of that as getting your gloves repalmed but a hell of a lot easier.

I have the Bauer ONE 95 Adaptable Core, what would you consider that to be?

2-piece pants literally look no different than any other pair of hockey pants. The top of the pants button to the lower part of the pants (at the waist). You can't tell the difference when looking at them like you can with a girdle.

2-piece pants at the retail level are almost nonexistent.

My Mission L-7 pants did this if I recall correctly... it was a height adjustment feature where you could button the lowers to the uppers in two different spots. basically, you could make your pants shorter or longer by about 2 inches at your discretion.

I wore a Bauer 2-piece canucks pro pants for a year. It had a ton of protection, but then I changed to the Bauer MBP8 girdle and I liked the light weight and mobility so much, I never went back to pants.

I was in the Oilers dressing room about 4 or 5 years ago and was suprised to see that 4 of the players wore the same girdle as me. Also, 3 of the 4 sat next to each other.
