Bergeron signed an extension for three years and 15M.

Also, I'm a bit tantalized by one line combination I read about yesterday: Krejci with Lucic and Horton. Those two wingers should be able to create a lot of room for Krejci, although I don't know how much sniping either Horton or Lucic can do.

Come on, Prague!

Two seasons ago when Lucic played with Savard & Kessel they were very effective. Hopefully that line can be a good one.

The book on Horton is that he can score when he tries. Ability isn't the question, effort is.

Horton looks like he is very happy here. All throughout the preseason he had a big smile on his face. Hopefully being in a hockey town will help him with that.

If Horton keeps playing like the first two games that trade could go down as a great one.

Hopefully game two is more of an indication of what they will be like this year. Amazing the difference in the way they played from Saturday to Sunday.

I think game 2 is more of an indication of what we will see from the Bruins. I think game 1 was a dud more due to them playing their last two preseason games against lesser talent. They seemed to have a hard time ratcheting back up to NHL levels.

It's only two games, but if T.T. can play like Tim Thomas of two years ago, I think the B's are a Top 10 team. Throw in a healthy return of Savard and they would likely be Top 3 in the East.

He has looked really solid so far. I still think if he continues to play this way & Rask plays like last year I think Thomas could be moved. Mainly for cap space.

Should be a good test this week with 2 against the Caps.

That's an interesting concept, because Marco Sturm is definitely on the long term injured reserve, although I couldn't find information whether Savard is. Thus, at the very least, the B's are essentially over the salary cap by Sturm's number. It's an easy decision if Ryder isn't playing well -- they'd send him to the minors -- but what happens if Ryder is playing well when Sturm is ready to return?

I think if Caron doesn't stumble then we will see Paille shuffled along. That will provide a small measure of cap help.

I'm one who thinks finding a way to hold onto Thomas for this whole year would be a good thing. Savard should qualify for LTIR which will help a little. Ryder has actually looked ok and a new option might be to trade him in order to get rid of his cap hit.

I have to agree...Paille while good on the PK is making himself dispensable. Ryder is gone by the deadline this season IMO.

I think Ryder could be moved much sooner than the deadline. Ryder's stay will be determined by the cap. First, it was Sturm's projected return but now I think it will be the later of Sturm or Savard. Once the second guy is ready then Chiarelli will really have to work the phones or waive Ryder, provided he hasn't been moved already.

I couldn't find it when I was looking yesterday, but Savard is already on long term injured reserve, so the B's would have to make room for both his and Sturm's salaries when the two of them return. The problem, of course, is the two of them have decent salaries, so it's going to take more than moving someone like Marchand back to Providence to even the books.

Remembering back to the summer, reports had the B's in cap trouble once Sturm returned with Savard already in the lineup so I think the B's won't be in crunch time until the second of Sturm or Savard is ready to come back. Ryder is the obvious first choice for big savings and it could also force them into a decision on possibly shipping Caron back to juniors or finding a taker for Paille. Dumping Marchand to the minors doesn't seem like an option just because of how much Claude seems to like his game thus far this season.

Hopefully they will rebound with a good game tonight. The Leafs are better so it should be good game.

Is there any way they send Seguin back to juniors? I don't think so but I have heard some people think it would be a good idea.

Heard the same thing on On the Fly last night. From the rumours I've heard and the play I've seen, it looks like Ryder, Wheeler and Hunwick could be the casualties of the cap.

I'd have no problem seeing Hunwick go.

I guess all of his confidence and ability was in his spleen.

Hey now...

I assume if Ference ever gets healthy, and no one else gets injured, Hunwick takes a seat. Apparently most of his hockey skill was stored in his spleen.

I wonder if they will start Rask against the Sabers. This game has let down all over it. The B's have been red hot but the Sabers are going to be fired up after being upset by them last year.

I hope they don't over look this game looking towards the Caps on Friday.
