Bruins: 2010-2011

To bad they only played 20 minutes last night or they could have extended there winning streak.

I hope like hell when Boychuck gets back Hunwick goes to bench.

Should be a good one tonight with the Blues playing so good.

I hope Jack Edwards doesn't cry about the Bruins having played the night before all game. He seems to be whining a lot more this year than in years past. Hell, he was complaining about an icing call last night before Brickly said it was fine.

Great game tonight. The Blues looked really good. Couple of bounces & the B's could have pulled it out. I think Hunwick has been rubbing off of Siedenberg. He almost had a giveaway in OT that almost lead to Blues goal.

I guess Segiun is alright in the shootout......

Looks like Krejci will be out for at least 2 weeks. Bad news but hopefully Bergeron can click on the top line and hold the team together for a little while. Seguin and Wheeler will need to step up too. Maybe shifting to his natural position at center will light a fire under Wheeler's ass. I really would hate to see him be the odd man out when Savard/Sturm return but i feel like if he doesn't start showing his potential soon and Ryder keeps playing decently he'll be trade bait. I remember the highligh reel goals he used to score at Minnesota and the fact that he was a 5th overall pick (same as Kessel btw) and feel there's just too much potential to give up on him yet, he's still young.

Easily Tuukka's best game last night. I said it earlier, but if the goaltending continues to be close to this level, and Savard, Krecji and Sturm come back to bolster the offense, this has the chance to be a very good season.

Chiarelli press conference in about 10 minutes. I can't think of anybody else in the core that would be extended at this point except possibly Mark Stuart so I'm assuming there is a trade to announce. Who are we saying so long to, Hunwick, Ryder, or Wheeler?

The B's are 4-4-2 at home, which led me to wonder when was the last time they were dominant at home? Maybe it was last year, and I'm just not remembering, but it seems they haven't been exceptional at home for a long time.

It definitely wasn't last year. I'm thinking two seasons ago.

Sidenote: Why lately must there be jackasses who can't leave a moment of silence silent? I was at Saturday's game and a handful of retards decided the moment of silence for Pat Burns was their chance to shine and be heard.

Hunwick to Colorado for Colby Cohen.

I like Hunwick, I would have preferred to dump Ference with his bigger contract. I think Hunwick still had potential to develop into a pretty good offensive D-man. But at least Cohen is a pretty good prospect to get in return. What do you guys think? Who's next?

I was pushing for Mcquaid to get back in the lineup but wasn't thinking he would trade Hunwick. If Ference stays healthy I'm fine with him in the lineup. You would have to think Ryder or Wheeler could be moved or demoted next. Savard & Sturm are getting closer so he has to do something soon. After there recent play something has to change. Hopefully this will be the beginning of righting the ship and get back on track.

my vote is for Ryder to go. His cap hit is virtually identical to Savard's so it would essentially be a one for one swap and then a minor move to clear the rest of the way for Sturm. Plus he has been playing decently thus far and could net us an alright prospect/pick in return. I've said before how I like Wheeler because of his frame and potential if he can only harness them...

The only reason I throw Ference in there (I know Chiarelli seems to like him and he is a very solid d-man) is his contract. He's a good player but I don't think he's worth over 2 mil a year when we have young guys like McQuaid, Bartkowski, Kampfer and Alexandrov waiting in the wings. He does bring a veteran presence to the lineup but I feel like Seidenberg and Chara along with Recchi bring enough to the table as far as experience and leadership/mentoring abilities

People keep advocating to trade Ryder, but who in the league would take him? No matter how little you're giving up you getting a guy with a biggish contract who doesn't do what he's supposed to do - score.

I'm glad they moved Hunwick while he still had an upside. It's possible he'll catch on and do well somewhere else, but he clearly wasn't cutting it in Boston. At least this way they were able to get something for him.

I totally agree. Yes Ryder would have been the better player to "get out from under" but it just wasn't going to happen. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried first though. Hunwick wasn't bad and was having a decent year which is why he was the best choice to move. I'm interested to see what other moves are made to get Sturm back in the line up.

I guess this means there were absolutely no takers for Ryder. Surprised that someone would deal for a guy who has had two straight seasons ended with knee injuries.

Good move by PC and co. I'm surprised there was a taker for Sturm over Ryder because of age and injury, but the kings were looking for another goal scorer so I guess he's a pretty good fit there. I like that PC made a deal that doesnt mess with team chemistry, the Bruins have played well without Sturm in the lineup and getting Savard back should be more than enough to cement us a spot as one of the better teams in the East. Sturm's speed and scoring touch will be missed but there is still a question mark as to how much this knee surgery (his 3rd i think, 2 on the same knee) is going to effect his play. I like the move. Best of luck to him in LA, they have a great young team, very exciting to watch.

also, keeping my fingers crossed for Savard's return tonight. I'm seeing reports of either tonight or saturday against Toronto...

I agree with you for the most part but I think Ryder's contract is what kept teams away.

Especially considering Sturm's injuries over the last few seasons.

As far as chemistry, I think the next month will tell us how good they are as currently constructed. If they can't get over the slow starts & the inconsistent play, I think some changes have to be made. I think they still have to improve on getting the puck up to the forwards.

Word is the Kings got Sturm for a conditional pick which probably means it is something like a 4th right now which could become a 3rd if he winds up extending with the Kings or signing with them this summer. Rather inexpensive chance for the Kings to take. If it doesn't work out they haven't giving up too much.

Good pick up for the Kings. Like you said, very cheap pickup and the Bruins are clearing cap space for Savard's return which apparantly could be tonight. Although Ryder is underachieving, it still makes more sense to keep him as he's younger and they've been winning with him in the line up.

Just read on Twitter from Pierre Lebrun and Bob McKenzie that the Marco Sturm deal is dead for now. Sturm has waved his NTC but the deal is not happening just yet. Apparantly both teams are leaving the door open. The fact that Sturm is still injured may be what is stalling the deal for now as per the Tweets.

Rumor has it that the hold up could be waiting to get a physical exam for Sturm. The Kings cleared a roster spot by shipping Schenn back to juniors so they could be getting ready to introduce a new King in the coming days.

I had thought Sturm might be on the trading block, but I was hoping they might get a more serviceable return than a conditional pick (if that turns out to be correct), although I understand he's now an injury question and only signed through this season. Still, let's say it's a fourth rounder. Maybe it's just that the B's don't draft well, but their first rounders don't make the roster all that often, let alone the fourth rounders.

On a different note, last night's game may have been an aberration, but if Savard could help the offense average close to one goal more per game, and they get the same goaltending, I think they become a top three team in the east.
