Flyers' 2010-2011 Season

Recommended Posts

Going to Monday's game as well with some buds. Na Na Na Na chant; no, but a derisive Ole I'm down for.

i was at the game as well. Of all people, my loud mouth GF was singing 'olay' loud enough for a pack of habs fans on the way out. they didn't look too pleased!

great comeback, great game.

Maroon is no longer part of the organization. The team sent him and David Laliberte to Anaheim for Danny Syvret and Rob Bordson. Confused about this move to be honest.

from what i've heard, Maroon was a "bad apple" in the locker room; questionable work ethic because he was stuck playing in the minors where he didn't want to be. on top of that, Flyers believe in defence, so they wanted to strengthen the backbone of the minor system with 2 d-men (esp given Syvret's experience).

on a side note, i noticed Maroon was playing roller for Team USA this past summer, struck me as odd since there could've been issues if he were to get hurt. It was one thing when Ales Hemsky was playing roller for his national team during the lockout, but Maroon is a prospect trying to make an NHL team!

As for Lali, he'll be a decent/good player. Scored 50+ in the QMJHL; wasn't ever going to get a chance in this organization. Now or never given his age.

I can guarantee you this, Andreas Nodl's play really made the decision easier. He has been the player to really separate himself from the rest of the callups/prospects in recent years. (Laliberte, Kalinski, Ross, Matsumoto)

Great comeback yes. Great game not so much, at least watching it on tv. There didn't seem to be muc emotion in that game. It was a strange game where the Flyers definitly played better specially in the 2nd and 3rd period but I don't know, there was something missing from that game. If it wasn't for the goalies this game could easily have been 5-0 for the Flyers. Boucher was weak on both goals even though the second one was deflected by his D man. His knees should have been together in the first place, not when he realized the shot had been deflected. Price played a real good game in IMO and made a few very nice saves. I don't think he could be blamed on any of the goals.

in person is always better, IMO. just because of the crowd. i was in a rawkus section. everytim PK touched the puck the boo birds were out. i agree that the game coud've been 5-0, Price played very well and we had 45+ shots again. that's like 3 of the last 4 games?

i do wish there was a bit more physically given the hype surrounding the game. Max and PK did not get what they deserved. to make things worse, Max had both garbage goals!

as for boosh, he did let up those 2 softies, but he made some very good saves as well. the first softy was like a flutter, it did hit the ice and tumble over like a knuckler.

Flyers really carried the play against the Penguins tonight, especially 5 on 5. I think it shows how much the Pens have to improve between now and the playoffs if they want to play for the cup.

Definitely agree, Chadd. I just wish the Flyers PP could get clicking for once. It seems to be the only thing slowing them down right now.

i'm getting pretty sick of all the ill-timed penalties; if i'm getting frustrated - i can't even imagine Lavi.

They've cost us games, and made games more interesting than they should've. #1 in most minor penalties taken is not a title a contending team wants to have.

Damn, Pronger is out 4-6 weeks. He's getting surgery today to fix his broken foot. Those are some big shoes to fill.

They have the depth to handle it in the regular season and he should be a little more rested come playoff time. I think the biggest impact will be on the PK

That's my thought. Pronger has that ability to just slow the game down when he has the puck, and it's kind of gone now that he's out. Timonen does it as well, but I don't think anyone can replace Pronger. I'm wondering who they're going to call up. My hope is Syvret, before Bartulis.

Kimo is one of the most underrated D-men in the league, he's a lot better than most people realize.

Flyers played well today but the score doesn't reflect the way Boucher played. He was really shaky for most of the game.

He really is, you just have to wonder how much longer he's got. You don't really appreciate him as much as you should because you don't see him on the score sheet too often. It seems like every shift he's coming up limping from blocking shots.

As for Boucher, I agree he did have some shaky moments, but I thought he still played well. I'm wondering when Leighton is going to get a start. I figure it'll be quite soon after the Christmas break, no?

Welcome back, Michael Leighton?

looked solid in the Flyers' skills comp, lol.

interesting to see him play against one of the best teams in the West tonight. i think Bernier is getting the start tonight for the Kings after Quick got molested for 6 goals last night (and yanked)

Looks like to Adirondack he goes. Will probably stay there until next year and come back as a back up to Bob.

Boosh is in the last year of his contract.

That's what I was thinking. If they have to bring up another goalie sometime in the future due to injury or whatever the case may be, it won't be Leighton. No way he clears re-entry waivers. Backlund seems to be the only option, unless they need an emergency goaltender for one night only and can recall Brian Stewart. Broad St. Hockey did a great piece on the move, and where the salary cap lies right now. Here's the link.

Finally JVR is driving the net, and the results are goals and drawn penalties. It will be interesting to see how he finishes the season and if he has a similar developmental track to Giroux. As either JJ or Jonesy said: we're watching JVR figure out how good he is. Hopefully this holds true for the remainder of the season.

...and the future to come. If he continues this, it'll be exciting to watch him. He's finally learning how to use his speed coming off the wing, and it's showing in his numbers.

Still think the Flyers need to make a trade for a scoring two-way winger to play with Richie consistently. Send Zherdev to the Devils to play with Kovie. We'll take Rolston off their hands for our Cup run. Of course I'd love to see a former Flyers in a deal for Zherdev, but I can't imagine a deal being done for Rex, or a guy like Upshall/Lupul/Williams with their cap hits.

Good game tonight vs. Buffalo! We'll see if Zherdev dresses....

annnnnnd the real Boucher is back....pretty disappointing loss to the B's last night. when you get 5 goals behind you, you should win when you're this type of caliber team. i feel that outside of the funny bounce off the glass, the rest should've been stopped. looked like a real lack of focus for boosh last night.
