I play for the university of akron and a "bomb threat" was placed on a stolen hockey bag from our team. they shut down the city and blew up the hockey bag, so far they are not paying the kid back anything for his stuff. The video is pretty sweet though you gotta check it out

That's more dangerous than it sounds. I know detonating some of my teammates' hockey bags could be considered biological warfare.

When I was a freshman in college, I kept my bag on the top flight of steps in the dorm building where the fire exit was (there was a landing that allowed me to place it completely out of the way), and one night at around 10, i hear a knock on the door, and there's the weasel RA with a cop in toe, and the cop goes "when people see bags like this, they think it's a bomb" so I said, "Well if you opened it it might kill you." didn't go over that well, but I had to find a new place to keep my stuff. and my car wasn't an option at the time because it was a station wagon with cloth seats.

Nice! Hard not to go for the comeback, even with a cranky cop/RA there.

Always leave the cup on top, just in case someone gets nosy. It seems that I got searched after every senior game I played when I would come back into the States. I started using this trick, and it seemed to help with the frequency and intensity of the searches.

Went to a tournament in Salt Lake City back in HS. My entire teams bags got put through the chemical scanner at the SLC airport. We'd been playing probably 10 days straight before we left for this tourney so everyone's gear was just as rank as could be, it was funny shit watching the airport people deal with all of the bags.

I'm not surprised they aren't offering to replace any of the equipment, but for his sake I'm gonna hope it was mostly school supplied equipment...

My gear is under $1,000 as well, but I'm 25 with a mediocre paying job, and I'd be PO'ed to no end if they blew up my hockey bag, even if they paid me double. "WTF do you mean I have to break in ANOTHER pair of skates... damn trigger happy bomb squad."
