i've never been to a leafs equipment sale before... are the lines generally pretty long?

Last time I went (which was in the summer) no, they weren't. I lined up fairly early (was probably 10th or so in line) and when they opened the doors, there was maybe 30 people. If the line ups are long, they only let in 20-25 people.

Be wary, anything good will go fast, and a lot of it is overpriced. Anything from any of the big name players will be expensive (brand new Kessel pro stock will be $225). Even the "lesser known" guys' sticks will run you $175.

If you're after Warrior Franchises, you might be in luck this year as there are a bunch of guys that wear them (compared to last year when it was only Kaberle and Hanson). When I went, there was one pair of Kaberle's and it got snatched up pretty quickly. I managed to find a pair of Hanson's by fluke so I picked those up.

They will be steadily busy throughout the day, but the prices of the stuff drives a lot of people away.

If you want the best deals, go at the end of the day. They've got tonnes of older/AHL stuff that they discount pretty nicely. I picked up a repainted 10k (painted as a U+ CL) with a nice hook on it for $35. There are also older pairs of skates (one90's, etc) that can be hand for pretty cheap. Same with the AHL game used sticks.

A summary of what to expect at the sale in terms of product:

- New NHL pro stock sticks. Nice sticks, not cheap.

- Game used AHL pro stock sticks. Can find some decent sticks there, but as I said, the good ones go quick.

- A lot of worn gloves. A lot of Bauer and Reebok stuff here. Probably some Torspo's leftover from Jeff Finger. If they're selling stuff from Versteeg, Armstrong, etc, expect a few Warrior Franchises.

- Game used Marlies jerseys.

- Game worn skates. All brands/sizes/conditions.

- Game worn pants. Some in good shape, others not so much.

- EDGE socks. Last time they had a few different types of socks.

- Game used helmets. Mostly Marlies stuff, a few NHLers that they will overcharge for. Some have visors, others don't. Last time, they wouldn't sell the visor separately.
