CCM V06 Pants?

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about picking up a pair of the CCM V06 pants, new, on fleabay for $30.00. Anyone got any experience with these pants (padding, fit - loose or tight, durability, etc.) They are for beer league hockey twice a week. No checking

Thanks for the help

Great pants. Light weight, not very bulky with good coverage and padding. Great mobility. They are a slightly tighter fit through the legs, so if you prefer the baggy loose fitting pants you may not like these as much.

I have the V6 pant in medium and the V8 in large. I'm 5'10'', 190 lbs and I bounce between a 33-34-35 inch waist. The V06 is tight on my waist in medium but I don't have much issues skating. The internal belt hugs high and the rest of the pant seems to be "loose enough". for comparison the V08 in large is a pant I have to pull on the belt to snug up. If I can summarize, even in a tighter fit I I'm still okay with the V06.

Strong points:

* internal belt hugs the hips tight and the protection on the upper hips, kidneys and the tail bone stay in place

* the tailbone protection has 2 (or 3?) places it's attached so it doesn't slide out of place

* good protection in general

Weaker Points

* legs are a little too short. the V06 in medium would be perfect if it reached a half-inch to an inch lower

* like most pants the protection is non-existent on the back of the legs

Other points to consider

* the v08 has held up very well, is a heavier pant and has some wear in the stitching on the belly flap

* the v08 has held up very well, is probably heavier than what a lot of people are used to but has good protection

* my old v04 have been passed to a friend, are still going strong and are much lighter.

* both the V06 and V08 took some time break in and become flexible; give them time out of the box

I think that for beer league hockey the V06 is probably going to be far in excess of what you'll need for a non-checking league and will suit well and hell, for 30 dollars it's a great deal.

I picked up a pair of CCM V06 pants last year for beer league and pick up games and they've been great. I like the fit...as stated above they can be snugged up nicely but still allow freedom of movement. I don't feel any restrictions at all. The protection is more than what your are going to need (great tail bone protection) but they are still very light. For $30 they are an absolute steal! Get 'em!

I had a pair of V08's...It's by far the worst piece of equipment I've ever purchased.

1. Fit was really awkward on me, loose in the waist, tight in the thigh. Had to get suspenders for them. The "belt system" inside the pants got twisted all the time and didn't really do anything but sit there. They were also really stiff. Not very mobile right away. They just never felt right on me. Maybe they'll fit you better.

2. Zipper came off track the first night. Came off track when I was taking them off. Had to replace the zipper completely.

3. The velcro flaps in the legs started falling apart after a few months. The velcro actually came unstitched. Sewed the flaps closed.

4. Stitching in the crotch and zipper flap starting coming un-done. After this I gave up and handed them to a friend who just started playing Hockey. I switched back to my old Tackla 900's.

Maybe I got a lemon or something but I'd steer clear from CCM pants from now on. Will only buy Tackla or Bauer.

I've got a pair of V06's and would recommend them. They're protective enough without being bulky, and the single belt + velcro system works great.

I love the V08's. Been using them for 3 seasons now without any issues. They're def on the higher end of protection and likely are less mobile than the V06's. I wanted more protection hence why I picked the 8 over the 6 but I don't notice much restriction in movement with them. Highly recommend 'em!
