Question About A Pro Stock Stick

Recommended Posts

Last night I picked up a pro stock Tyler Bozak s19 from the store across from the acc after the game. I was wondering if there's any chance it's not actually a s19 and maybe it's a s17 or something. Any info would be appreciated.

If there is no taper towards the bottom it's probably an ST or an SE16. The sticker inside the butt end should tell you.

It tapers. Are you talking about the yellow sticker with the black marker inside? I thiiink it says s19 BVS. That obviously tells me it's a s19, but what does the BVS mean?

There is a really high probability that it isn't a s19. I bought a lot s19's at the devils equipment sale this past summer and about 1/2 of them were se16's.

If it tapers, it's probably an S19. No idea what the BVS is for. I would guess Bozak something something.

Ok thanks, and also it says "Intended for professional use only, no warranty". Do they just put that on every stick intended for NHL and other pro teams, or do they make their sticks differently.

They put that on every pro-stock, they have no warranty like retail sticks. And BVS "Bozak very stiff"?

Are pro stock and regular sticks made the same way though? It's very flexy, probably 80 or 85.

No, they are not. Pro stock sticks can be dressed up as other sticks, have a different flex rating, different blade texture, different grip, different shaft dimensions, different blade flexibility, etc... a multitude of things can be different from retail.

I think its time for a dedicated prostock stick thread. I've seen so many little threads come up in the last few months. Anyone agree?

It doesn't matter, people will still start new topics asking the same questions over and over again.

Thanks for the help guys. Coming from a one95 to this stick, I can shoot the puck way harder. It's going to take a little while to get used to the feel and everything but this thing is a beauty.

Does the stick have the eliptical taper above the blade? I only ask because no one specifically asked if it had an eliptical taper. If it does it is an S19, if it doesn't but still has a regular taper, it is probably an SE16 etc.

The s19 elliptical taper is also wider than the s17 elliptical taper. Ypu can always go to a store and compare.

Oh...that's too bad....you won't be able to score or backcheck with that stick...

I hope there is nothing wrong with the stick. I almost picked up a broken Bozak S19 for $100. It was a game used stick but the blade was dressed with a fresh layer of hockey tape. Once the tape was removed, the blade was almost broken in half.

How much did you pay? $100?
