Easton S17 skate old and new version

so I am in my second season with my silver S17's and they are showing sign of wear and tear ..furthermore , as of recently , my left ankle ( left foot is slightly shorter than the right) started moving up and down in the heel section ...

so I went to the local easton store to check out the black version of the S17 , which the rep told me was a improved version of the silver one , with more padding and running slightly larger than the silver one

as I usually don't take his word for granted as he has "cheated " many times before ....can anybody confirm that the S17 has 2 versions , old being silver and new being the black and white edition !!??

..also , this eventually being true , I might go down from 9W to 8,5W ......9 is a 280 steel and the 8 he had was 272 ......is the 8,5 272 or 280 and is the difference from stepping down from 280 to 272 very noticeable ??

alternatively I have tried the new CL .....as it only comes in regular width here I did not get it .....although it fits pretty wide for a regular in the forefoot area , wider than any ccm skate before ......is there a big difference from D to E ???

I'm pretty sure he's BSing you. As far as I know they're the same exact skate except for the color

...not bad !!!! but I do not trust him ...for years now ......but he's the only rep for the part of our country where I live .....and easton themselves officially do not allow to export their product into our country without going thru him/them .......so I am kinda stuck ...although I know most of the information I'm getting is not right...

therefore I am asking for support on this board ....as I think the product is not as bad as it is presented over here ...

Just bought a pair ( black LE ) from rinkrat94 size 7 - slightly used to replace my son's silver version. No difference in size. Skates are junk as they break down in one season. With a price tag of 500+ it's borderline criminal. The used pair we just got will hopefully make it till April. No more Eastons for us.

I also have had the silver S17's for just over a year and a half and recently decided to pick up a pair of the black S17's to replace the silver. I play 3 times a week and my S17's are not in bad shape by any means, just that some of the leather parts are starting to peel off. The skates still function the same as they did when they were new, but cosmetically they are really beat up. I didn't notice any difference in size between the 2 and both my pairs are 7.5R and as far as I can tell, nothing has been improved, skates look and feel identical except for color.

He was probably thinking of s15s which had two versions. The second version was an attempt to fix the durability problems of the first version.

It's interesting how some people encounter massive problems with s17/ se16s skates and others don't. Mine have held up fantastically, either eastons QC sucks, or people need to take better care of their skates.

ok , so I got the black ones today ....at first glance , only one more copper rivet at the front part of the runner, the silver ones did only have small rivets up fronts ......will compare them side by side tonite !!
