Nike Balance Board

Has anyone ever seen or used the Nike Balance Board? You can see it on Nike's website: On the equipment page (where you see Nässi head to toe) click on "training" on the lower right and hit some arrows to see the balance board. Looks pretty neat to me and seems to be nicely adjustable. I wonder where I could buy one.

It helps to build up all of the small stabalizer muscles. There seems to be a trend towards balance boards, fit balls, bikes and free weights in hockey workout rooms.

My coach made a couple of similar things with wood. They obviously aren't as good, but you get the same basic work out with them. I'll try to get some pics.

Yeah it pretty much looks like something you could build urself for about 5 bucks. Actually my aunt did for my niece, who was having trouble with her balance on her skates.

Dont know if this works, but I saw somewhere someone put a big can (paint can) and put a board on top of it.....would this work?

Thats what I was going to suggest.

The paint can and wood plank works, but you don't get the 360-degree range of motion or variable resistance that a wobble board provides. You can buy wobble boards off eBay for under $30, so you definitely don't have to drop a ton of cheddar on one.

theres a couple in the gym at my school. me and my friend stand on them and pass a volleyball back and forth.
