Warrior Lie Question

Recommended Posts

So Ive been using the Draper/Towes curve with a lie 5 and been seeing more wear on the heel. My thought is the lie is too high? Should I either go with a shorter stick or a lie 4? Crappy thing is on the new doll there is now lie 4 in the towes curve... Thanks in advance

You can try shortening the stick an inch or so and see if you can adapt to that. If not, then you would want to go with the 4 lie.

This is something you have to figure out yourself with trial and error that incorporate switching of lie, curve, as well as skating and shooting posture. For example, NHLers like Jordan Stall love to stickhandle and skate with the puck while the puck is on their heel of the blade. Only 1/3 of the blade near the heel touch the ice when they skate forward in a low posture. Other parts of the blade is used only when they cup the puck sideways or when shooting. Some players (maybe you), like to play an upright game, ala Henrik Sedin. Even though he and his brother use a gradual heel curve they don't go low crouch nor open their stance wider than shoulder width. Thus this kind of player uses the middle/heel of the stick when handling the puck.

In conclusion, it could be the perfect curve and lie for you for your posture and style of play. Or it could be you haven't adjusted to the posture needed to use that lie, if that is indeed the right lie for you. Or you just need the lie 4. This all comes from learning more about how you play, how you want to play and then trial and error from practicing handling while skating posture, and shooting posture.

As previously mentioned, try shortening the stick. I had the same problem and I've been cutting down my twigs and playing around with different lengths to find what works best for me (my 2 sticks are a 5* lie). As a noob it's all about learning and figuring out what works best for me.

If I am not mistaken Warrior lie values are a bit off. Their 4 lie is like other manufacturers 5 lie. I am a clear 5 lie in Bauer sticks ( except P88 but that is a different scenario anyway) but can use an old Warrior Weight pattern 4.5 lie blade just fine.
