Tossed out of game as spectator

Youth hockey would be so much better if parents weren't allowed in the building at all.

I know when i played, parents had to sign a conduct waivers, and in return if they got kicked out of games, they wouldnt be allowed back to a game the rest of the year. I think a lot of people just get caught up in the sport, thats no excuse to act like an idiot and embarrass your kids imo.

I hate to see refs kick a parent out from the ice, it has happened at our rink a few times now and I find that more times than not its the wrong guy that gets the boot. At the same time, if the refs had more support from the league they wouldn't have to deal with it as often. When it comes right down to it, some people just take it to far.

In my sons first ever tyke game, he was totally lost, 5 years old and a decent skater but no idea how to play the game. His team was down by 3 when all of a sudden it clicked in that little head of his that he needs to put the puck in the net. He scored 3 to tie the game and they put him in for the last shift.

It was beautiful, won the faceoff back, turned and picked up the puck, dangled through everyone and scored the game winner....

On his own net!

We lost the game 4-3, parents went insane. Point of this story, relax, let them play their game and talk to them afterwards if you feel they need guidance. This way everyone in the stands can enjoy the game.

I was reffing kids roller hockey games, and I called one kid for roughing after he just barrelled into a kid along the boards. his dad then proceeded to yell and scream that I was discriminating because his kid didn't know how to stop. then a few games later a kid was about to break through two defensemen for a breakaway, and one of the dmen just went water skiing behind him, and I gave him 2 for hooking and caught all kinds of grief from the parents because it ended a powerplay. kids have to learn the rules somehow.

They should have that separate room like they do in some churches where they can glass off the noisy people. That way parents can watch the games but the game can go on without kids, coaches, or refs having to hear a word from them.

and sometimes it doesn't go away when that player is an adult and play beer league hockey. last summer in Rec League a guy who's probably a D level player got a penalty for checking. not only did he get thrown out for running his mouth but the ref also had to throw out his father who was watching from the stands. the son is probably in his early 30's so you know the dad had to be at least 50. pathetic.
