CCM helmets used by the NHL players

Recommended Posts

Hey, guys

I could not help but notice that CCM helmets that look like V08 retails, you know, with the side adjustable locks, that the pros use look slightly different. Specifically, the CCM logo on the front of the helmet does not have the frame around it and the letters are a larger font that on the retail ones. Is this the only difference or the pro helmets are actually very different? I saw one really up close but not in my hands and could not spot any significant differences.

I have a retail V08 and a pro stock V08, both black.

The only difference between the 2 is the CCM logo/font. There are no side logos on the pro helmet and the CCM on the front is bigger than the retail. Besides that the helmets are the same.

thanks, guys, for the replies. I haven't looked at the latest CCM catalog but it does make sense, since my helmet is at least two years old and, strangely, none of my LHS has any new ones in stock.

Not strange, you should expect them before the summer (usually)

If I'm not mistaken, all players who play in the league after a certain date must wear a CSA approved helmet (same as retail). Find a picture of Domi and Kaberle back in the day and you'll see the difference in the thickness of the foam. I've seen some players play with a single density foam and a dual, it's personal preference. But in the end, they're all going to be the same as the retail helmets.

CCM and Reebok changed their logo for this coming season. Like said before, CCM is getting rid of the bars around the CCM and making the letters bigger. Reebok got rid of the Vector logo and just putting Reebok. Pros will generally get the new logos and products before retail for image awareness. Just look at some of Ovi's sticks, they're similar to last year cosmetics of the CL but the CCM logo is the newer one.
