Graf OPS with foam core

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I have a small dilemma with my OPS. I have a Graf G-force ( black with white flame decals on it if it helps)and the blade snapped in half yesterday. I cut the blade off to realize that the stick is full of foam, or at least I think it is. My question is: can I put a blade on it or the stick is no longer good anymore? I tried removing some of the foam and successfully removed about 2 1/2 inches of it. I'd like to know what to do now.

Thanks

On every broken OPS I've seen the foam is only in the blade and heel, there's actually foam going up the shaft? Weird. You could always get a long stick, put it in the top, and see how far the foam comes up.

Yes there's foam going up the shaft and don't now whether it stops eventually or its really the entire shaft that is filled with foam. I dont know if I should just break off the foam and insert a blade or if anyone knows these stick well enough know if I cant put a blade.

There is foam throughout the whole stick, your only option would be to chisel out enough for a blade tenon to fit.

I presume while you say it's a Graf G-Force, it's actually a Busch stick, isn't it?

If so, then yes. In fact, it's rather easy since it's a one piece (so no tenon to chisel out). The rub, however, is that it won't take a senior tapered blade. It will, however, take a junior (standard tenon) blade. Strange, I know (but I have 3 such busch shafts). I feel it's worth the minor effort.

Oh, and I still have a busch laser (by graf). Great puck feel.

Yes it is a Busch stick. So my best choice is to chisel far enough to be able to insert a blade? Only a junior blade as well? Thats a bummer!

Thanks for the help guys !!
