Another blade patern question,,,,,

Recommended Posts

Hi

I've been playing with a warrior federov,, savard style blade,, Had a Easton Forsberg and that worked just as well if not better (less rocker I believe).

I'm a older guy who has worked hard on my game for four years,,I have a good work ethic so,, I practice stuff individually ect.... I'm recently realizing I've gotten better.Maybe High C Low B player by New England beer league standards.

I want a little deeper curve,,but not too radical a step from where I'm at.I liked the way the Easton inginla looked at the store,, BUT was wondering about the Warrior Kovalkuck,,, as a replacement blade in my Dolomite shaft,, I haven't seen one in person and the pics,,, there is considerable variation in the appearance,as well as descriptions toe Vrs. mid Curve.

Is it a Clone?? Is it Close but,,,???? Is it, In your opinion a good "next Step" Curve to try?

Thanks for the Help.

i use the warrior kovalchuck and did the same change as you did. it looks similar to the easton iginla but instead of being curved more in the center, the kovalchuck is more towards the heel it seems to me and straightens out towards the toe. i think once you have the basics down with the federov/savard/forsberg style blade, you wont have much awkwardness with the blade at all. the back hand might be the only problem but after a puck time or two youll be all set

In the pattern DB, There is Depth variation as well a size...

I'm unclear on the difference ,,, I thought 1/2 in 3/8s Ect represented the depth of the curve.

Not Correct?

I shoot right,,,,

I've been using Dolomite's OPS off the shelf but I've never unglued one yet. I just broke the blade on my 75 flex that I bought this year.. I prefer the wippier shaft for everything but the slap-shots.I was going to buy a blade and try to fit it in the shaft.

The local store did not have a Kovalkuck in stock to look at.

first, as a warning, it'll take you a week to remove the blade clean. i suggest just sawing off the tenon and everything.

the kovalchuk is a mid 'kink' i feel is the best way to describe it. its also a much deeper curve at 3/4" than an iginla (1/2"). the iginla is also a smoother curve.

now when you say you want a deeper curve, deeper in what regard? the iginla and kovalchuk are both mid curves and will be different biomechnically compared to your forsberg, which i would say is more like a heel curve (mid-heel technically). so you can go two ways with a deeper curve: a deeper mid curve, or a deeper heel curve.

personally i suggest an iginla or p88. a kovalchuk if you want a one piece warrior.

I wanted to try a mid curve,,slightly deeper. Not a lot deeper. I thought it was 1/2 vrs 3/8 a difference of 1/8. Something that accentuates the positive with my old school wrist shot which is pretty dialed. Also something that encourages the tactual feedback during my budding drag/snapper, which I can do "well" with my head down, looking at the puck during the drag.Obviously I need to practice enough to earn the ability to pick my head up.I've tried other peoples sticks and immediately noticed that move is easier than with my blade.

I wanted to use the warrior blade for two reasons, it will fit the Dolo shaft well witch I really like the smaller feel of. ( I read the easton blade would be big in the hossel) second would be the lie would theoretically be the same as my Savard (both are Warrior 4 vs Easton/Bauer 5.5)a difference of .5 if I'm right. So I wouldn't have to cut my stick.

I hear the point of the Kovalkuck being a mid "kink" and not as much of a gradual curve (Inginla) and I'll confess I'm thrown more by the aesthetics than any realistic idea of what difference the two would feel/perform like.

"I just heated and pulled on my broken DD and the blade popped out perfectly."

That's good to hear, I have a silver "11" DD dolo and loved it but,, the blade went today.
