Shipping from Canada to uk..

Recommended Posts

I've just won a replacement blade on eBay USA (I'm in uk)

Guy is in Ottawa Canada, and has quoted the following for shipping:

$35 for 4-6 weeks postage or $58 for 4 days.

I've had skates shipped from us via eBay for less, and considering the weight difference between a pair of skates and a composite blade...this doesn't seem right.

However the item is from Canada this time rather than USA - does shipping cost a lot more in general there?

Nope. Ask him to put the blade in a bubble wrap lined envelope and mail it via Canada Post. I would say $10-$15 max.

Cheers - that's what I thought, I'll email him now. I'd already paid for 9.99 shipping and said I didn't mind if there was a few dollars extra - but the costs he quoted were ridiculous!

Thanks again, appreciated

Canadapost.ca for a shipping quote. Estimate 160-200 grams for a tapered blade and a little more for a standard blade. Add 50-100 grams for the envelope and voilà. He will likely need a legal size or slighly bigger envelope. That will give you an idea.

Just out of curiosity I calculated an envelope measuring 8x14x3 weighing 400 grams from ON to England. It's classified as a small packet. Priority was $89, but air mail was about $17 and surface was $9. Time for air I believe was 4-7 business days.

Oh wow - thanks very much for checking that out for me! Greatly appreciated, I'll pass that info on - hopefully the seller sorts it out!

Was a one95 blade - can't get them anywhere except USA and the stores won't ship Bauer etc outside of USA so ebays pretty much my only hope!

Thanks again for checking that out :-)

All experiences I've had sending anything to Europe or Australia have been expensive and slow with Canada Post.

I shipped a visor to an Aussie member here and it took 3-4 MONTHS via Canada Post. I shipped an eBay package to Italy and that took 3 months.

The prices are very accurate by the way.

Regarding the prices - do you refer to the eBay seller ($35 & $58) or the prices team50 quoted above?

Thanks for the help guys!

Try it yourself. Use K1A 0A9 as the originating postal code (Parliament of Canada).

If you ship with Canada Post to any international destination (excluding USA) and you want insurance/confirmation numbers expect to pay an arm and a leg.
