Converting skates yourself - What bolts to use?

Recommended Posts

I'm wanting to convert some ice skates to inline myself but I'm struggling to find the rights nuts/bolts to secure the new chassis

I've read in the below topic that you need tee nuts but I can't seem to find anything suitable. Can anyone help me out?

http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index.php?/topic/44573-how-to-do-a-ice-to-roller-conversion/

Some of the photos aren't working in here & it seems to the those ones that I need the most!

Thanks

6/32 or 8/32 tnuts, with corresponding 1/2" or 5/8" bolts. It could be philips or hexagonal drive.

I prefer 8/32 but the 6/32 works just as well. The 6/32 gives you a little more to play with in terms of error for placing the holes. You might want to get the bolts with a flange head, which then removes the need for a washer.

Hope it helps... which reminds me that I need to stock up on tnuts and bolts.

Darmin, have you converted your skates yet? I'm getting a resupply of tnuts and bolts. Dont get the ones from Bunnings, as they charge you like $6 for 4 tnuts.

The ones I get from the US will come in imperial measurements, but they are real cheap. The last time I bought them, I had enough for 5 sets of skates (10 per skate, 20 per pair)... let me know and I can send some up to you.
