Recommendations for low profile shins

Recommended Posts

I have the Bauer Vapor x40's. They have a good fit and are slim low profile design. I would look at the x20 and maybe a couple models up from it to see if the 20's will have all the features and protection you will require.

I've used a number of shins, hate ones that are too bulky and generally dislike shins with that "sling" design (basically all high end shins), but love my X30s. Comfortable, low profile, fairly cheap, and as with basically any shin pad I don't really feel shots/slashes through them. The X40s seemed a bit more comfortable and protective, but also bulkier (though still lower profile than most shin guards).

I know you said 'cheap' but take a good look at the X:60's. They have the optional calf protection which can be taken off so it'll basically become an X:40.

I think the premium for the X:60 is worth it.

Depends on what level of play you are at. If you are a novice the x20s will do fine as none of them should have a hard shot. If you're in a intermediate or advanced league, definitely recommend at minimum the x40s, probably x60s as that is what I am wearing. Great shin, haven't had one hurt yet from guys who played college puck.

if your skill is at that novice however don't let that discourage you on getting something nicer, i know you said inexpensive but personally when it comes my body and protection, cost really isn't an issue (it is to an extent), so the extra 40 bucks being spent on x40s from x20s to me is worth it.

Assuming he's gonna end up taking the calf protection off to achieve the low profile, and that's the only diff. from the x40's then what's the point of paying more for these?
